F600 vs Freightliner wind effect

All,

After coming back from another 800 mile trip fighting wind in my 2018 Grayhawk 31FS (Ford E450) I started looking at the larger units. I've fought the wind many times through mid West and my arms were just aching this time around. I also wouldn't mind a little more power towing a Wrangler 4dr.

My question is this; does the F600 (Greyhawk XL) handle wind comparably to the Freightliner (Seneca) chassis? Seneca is heavier and has much bigger tires and perhaps that is the difference? A friend who had an Entegra Frieghtliner said he never feels a toad or wind, natural or TT related since upgrading from a E450 to the larger bus. Curious if moving to the F600 is comparable or just a little bit better.

I'm sure everyone has opinions, just curious on any experiences.

Thanks-

I have very limited experience driving my Seneca XT in the wind, but the effects were less noticeable than driving my Greyhawk.

Weight will be your friend in heavy winds. While I have not driven a F600 chassis I can honestly say my Seneca S2RV handles better than my Kodiak 5500 Chassis and much better than my E450 chassis. Alignment, shocks, Trac bars and tire pressure also makes a difference.

No experience with f600, but had a short wheelbase f53 based class a with all the common chassis upgrades and going to the accolade. I drive east west across the southern coast in a fair amount of wind on a regular basis and with the f53 could only drive 5-6 hours before I was exhausted. Stock accolade, same routes and in some heavier wind and I have no issues driving at all. Towed jlu behind both rigs and have to keep the camera on the ensure the jeep is still there with the accolade (can't feel it as all). Well worth the money for the upgrade if you can swing it.

I found my 2021 Greyhawk Prestige to be difficult in the wind or tractor trailer "wind" until I installed SUMO Springs front & rear and a Roadmaster Steering stabilizer. These made all the difference in the world. No more "fighting the steering wheel"

We have done the same upgrade on our Jayco Precept 35S as mjdcwo where it was a bit of a challenge driving on windy day with the base equipment, I installed Sumo Springs front and rear and a front Roadmaster Steering Stabilizer. I can still feel a bit of side wind, but a huge improvement and can now follow the speed limit without being exhausted driving. I also found a big improvement while driving in curses, etc. No more rocking side to side. A bit pricy, but, very good upgrade.

We have had our 2015 Seneca since 2016. We tow a 10k trailer with our FJCruiser & Toys OR flat tow a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. When we have the trailer behind us, we are a little slower up the hills than with the Jeep, but still able to pass Semi's climbing in the right lane.

Since we bought our Seneca, the suspension is totally stock. We have not done any alignments, additions or such except we did have the rear ride height airbag valves corrected back to factory specifications after it was leaning (empty or loaded). The old saying "if it isn't broke, don't fix it" holds true for us. After 10 years and 40k miles, we are now going to replace the front shocks.

Spend the extra money and purchase the King shocks from HD shocks. I have been running them on my 2022 for 25K miles and have nothing but good to say about them. I took my Sumo springs off and softened the ride even more. When in Quratzsite for the tent show I stopped and talked with them telling them that I had added the MCU's and was still experiencing some side to side roll when going through a gutter or off of a curb. He asked me to send them back and that he would re-valve them so that the rock would go away. Well I paid for the postage to and from and they rebuilt my shocks for free and the side to side rock is now gone even after taking off the MCU's.

Not saying the MCU's are bad but if you buy the correct shock you will not need the Sumo's or the MCU's.

Not sure if you have the M2 or S2RV. I believe they would be the same but not 100% so I would call HD Shocks at 661-588-7702 and they will make sure you get the correct one. They are super to work with and will get you taken care of.
