Finally upgraded to a Truma Comfort Plus model

I have a 2022 37M that I had Truma put in the Comfort system a few months after taking delivery because I hated the stock system so much. I have also acquired the needed copper piece to make it a plus and have had it laying around for close to 3 years not knowing how to make it work. After reading through this thread (please correct me if I am wrong) is all I need to do is run a pex line from my kitchen sink back to the brass recirculation attachment point and all will be good. Is there something I am missing or something else that needs to be done? TIA
The truma Aqua go comfort is by far the best water heater on the market. Well worth the cost to convert from a traditional tank or on demand heater. With your upgrade to the recirculation mode you will be upping the game. The hardest thing you will have to do is open the wheel well panels and some places making the pex crimp can be a little tight. Where did you get the fitting for the plus? I have been looking but so far have been stumped, I have been gathering some fittings but if I can save a step that would be great.

I had read a couple times that during Covid, Truma actually sold parts direct to consumers, but I never had any luck ;)

When I ran my manual recirculation back to the fresh tank, I dropped through the floor and ran back through the compartments and wheel well area and insulating it. When it came time to upgrade the Truma, I would have ran the line all above the floor level on our RB but it would have been a real challenge feeding a pex line under the shower in the rear passenger corner of the coach. I just decided to continue it through the compartments down the passenger side the last compartment and then over to the water heater. If you measure back 2” and down from the floor 2” (at least on mine) you miss any metal framing and are just drilling through the plastic tub. Drilling a 5/8” hole, the pex is a tight fit through it and to insulate and seal, I drilled a 3/16” hole just above the pex line and when done, inserted the straw of a spray foam can to fill the cavity between the tubs, seal the pex in the holes and help insulate the line passing through. The line is t even visible in any compartment as several have carpeted panels that cover it.

With plus how well does it startup and maintain the temp. Example theres the reticulation line so when you turn on the faucet/shower you should pretty much instantly get hot water right, but if you keep the water on the heater will start to heat so I'm guessing there is a gap period where you get cold water or just not as hot water? Can you describe what that is like maybe with a rough time and heat description (IE if I turn on the shower and jump in and I am going to hit with cold after a little while)? Also does it overshoot and get too hot when it ramps up? Just trying to get a grasp on performance, I have watched youtube videos but no one seems to really talk about that stuff they just say its better than their previous setup.

The Truma is a Hybrid water heater with a small temperature stabilizer tank that when set on Comfort mode, the tank is always at 108 degrees. This water is circulated through the line and when you turn the faucet on, you have instant and constant hot water, no fluctuation in temp. The water flows from the temperature stabilizer and is instantly replenished from the heat exchanger. You can turn the shower off and on and you never have a temperature change or cold shot of water like other tankless systems. The only time you don’t get instant hot water is when you first start the system and you turn on a faucet, you will get the cooler water that is in the riser portion of the water line from the recirculation line up to the facet for at most 2 seconds and then it’s 108 degrees. When we set up, my wife turns on the water heater right off the bat and within 2-3 minutes, it’s hot the rest of the stay. I thought we might see a noticeable increase in propane use but so far it’s not noticeable. The unit only fires and circulates for about 10 seconds every 15-20 minutes and that’s been in 30-45 degree weather. I do have all the hot pex lines insulated with pipe foam to help. It’s been awesome and my wife is extremely happy with it. Here are some pics that show how the system works.
