Where ever the boss says we're going.
From YAHOO:

Ford is bringing back certain F250, F350, F450, F550, F650, and F750 Super Duty and Medium Truck vehicles equipped with its 6.7-liter Scorpion diesel engine. It seems that these pickup trucks’ motors can form dangerous biodiesel deposits on the fuel pump drivetrain roller components. These deposits can then lead to the engine’s high-pressure fuel pump failing, causing a potentially catastrophic cascade of damage.

2020-2022 With the Scorpion Diesel F-250, 350, 450, 550 and 650

2021-2022 F-650 and 750

Here is the best part. They are going to reflash the ecu with some programing that will make the deposits just dissappear. Think I will keep my dpk just a little longer.
Whats their story for all of the pre covid pump failures? Where's Oprah when everybody needs a dcr pump?

The pump is being changed....not just software.

CP4.2. The Schwintek of fuel pumps.

is the ford system based on the same Bosch system everyone else recalled as well?

Part of the RAM problem was the pump was driven at a higher speed than the Ford version. Which caused more problems than usual.

49 posts and multiple links. No mention of replacing pumps under the recall. Post 45 does show a dealer leter that does not confirm or deny pump replacement yet.

Link with no confirmation of pump replacement.

Another with no mention of pump replacement

Curious where pump replacement as part of the recall was found.

because they haven't' been mailed yet!

I did get the letter. It states:Software is not available. Ford Motor Company is working to provide software for this repair. When the remedy becomes available, Ford Motor Company will notify you via mail...

Must be some really good software!

I used to get those messages from Dodge and now the same from Ford. We are recalling your truck but parts are not available. I just got for my Ford Hybrid Powerboost f150 that the OBD system does not read something correct and I might need a new cat converter
(It was a little louder after I returned from that last RT up 75 and west on 10 for 8 hours @f 70 hauling the little trailer @ 8 mph.)

I was just in to the dealer about a different small problem and the service tech told me about this “recall”. He said no cure for the biodiesel deposits has been issued by Ford, and that the engine could shut down at any point on its own. Great!!! No fix from Ford at this point.

For my 2021 Powerboost I was forced to find a dealer to reprogram my entire electrical system while on the road the first time. This took place three times in 21K miles. Part of the reprogram dealt with the transmission. Finally it crapped out and Ford recalled the truck with a similar song, no parts available and no timeframe for the repair.

As with many of the companies that has farmed out parts for repiars and their service department call centers, all this new technology and repairs I told one senior official that we have moved backwards, while the costs have gone way up at every turn.

and I bet for this diesel pump problem, Biodiesel is just the "scapegoat"

VW was the first to have this problem with the Bosch common rail pumps. I remember them telling these young drivers who trusted VW "silly Americans, this is not caused by our product failure, this is caused by your bad diesel". and to prove it they were showing the customers a soda bottle of contaminated fuel with the sample taken AFTER the blown up pump. VW was telling owners to go after the diesel seller, or the insurance company and the fix was to replace everything from the fuel tank forward. Someone that got hit with this worked for a lab and investigated the bottle contents. all the contaminants in the sample were from the pump body that has blown up. VW changed the tune.

Diesels are great for climbing hills with a load. I’ve had a few over the years. That is until you have an out of warranty repair. Some repair shops won’t even work on diesels. I’ve had repairs on my diesel engines that cost more than a complete replacement gas engine. Right now I have a Ford Transit 350 van 80,000 miles only oil changes and filters at the drive thru oil change place. My gas F350 only has 22,000 miles but I expect the same plus it climbs hills just fine and I never have to look for diesel fuel.
