Free standing dinette ripping out of floor

We purchased a 2023 Jayco 24RE fifth wheel, did our walk through on 6/24/23 and drove it the 28 miles home from the dealership and found the free standing dinette had ripped out of the floor, damaging the floor in the slide and the cabinet across from the table. We returned it the the dealership the very next day, they started a warranty claim, mounted the table back in it’s spot and we picked it up on 7/2/23 and took it camping this past weekend to shake it down. The trip to the campsite was ok, table was intact upon arrival, but when we returned home on Sunday, we found the table had separated from its’ base and was tipped over again😡 has anyone else experienced this with Jayco’s free standing dinette? Very poor design in my opinion! And now I am questioning my purchase of a Jayco coach.

Welcome to the Forum from Western New York State!

Sorry you're having that problem, but I must say it the first time I've seen one like that, and the design does look sketchy to me. It probably looked good on paper.

I'd scuff the paint on the base where the pedestal makes contact, and both screw and glue it in place. Making sure that the screws had a good purchase into it. If that isn't feasible, I'd build a new base and pedestal out of real good wood like white oak, and attach the table top to it.

That just looks like a poor design for a trailer that's bouncing and rocking on the road. All that weight at the top of the single leg is bound to rip it off the screws.

Maybe you could rig up a post in the center of the base plate that the table leg could slip down over when you're parked. When traveling just lift the table off and store it somewhere.

Not saying it is a good or bad design. But we've been looking at a lot of 5vers, and that looks to be a common design. This is the 1st I have heard of a failure. Give the dealer a chance.

We have a 2022 Eagle with the same table. It toppled over after about 5 trips but fortunately fell into the padded bench and not into the center island.

It turns out that the pedestal is hollow, and all but two of the screws from the base had missed their mark. It took a mobile repair guy about 10 minutes to fix it up and it’s been fine ever since.

Probably my biggest complaint regarding build quality... screws and staples doing nothing but fasten thin air. Easy enough to fix, but hard to swallow when shelling out that kind of money.

The same thing happened to our 2022 24RE for the table. Called Pete's RV and Jayco. Nothing done by either. Got the run around from both. Very poor design. I fixed it myself by inserting a solid 4x4 in the center pedestal and used large lag bolts to secure to base. Then used heavier screws to the floor. Then ordered secure strap to go over table to the floor while traveling. No issues so far. Table coming loose caused big chip in our kitchen counter, I sent pictures to dealer and Jayco, nothing.
