2018 Eagle HT - I'd like to disinfect the fresh water tank. It appears by reconfiguring the water valves I can use the water pump to siphon from a bucket and pump it back into the fresh water tank. Or is there a backflow valve that will prevent liquid from going back into the water tank?

No backflow, that is how you are supposed to do it. However you may want to flip the cone screen at the hose connection to push that check valve open, it makes it easier on the pump to start suction. Just be sure you flip it back when finished.

I pour a bunch of bleach into my garden hose end, hook it up to the inlet set my valves to tank fill and fill it up. I'll let it sit for a few hours and drain. I dry camp once a year and I can smell a hint of bleach when I shower.

The Country Fill setting turns the hose connection into its suck to tank mode. I put in the recommended amount of bleach in a bucket and suck it in and then fill the tank normally with a hose. Works very well.

To add to this sanitizing routine, I will let the tank sit with the bleach for a few days. This is mostly due to me wanting to get the maximum sanitizing effect but I must admit that some of it may be due to procrastination.

Then....I will pump the tank empty into my holding tanks (black & gray) and add some additional bleach down the drains and toilet and then let that sit for a number of days. More bang for your water buck as you will somewhat clean your holding tanks.

Thanks. Worked great! I was impressed with how fast the pump pulled in 5 gallons.

The owners manual had a bunch of info on how to do it with the Uni-doc system, but my camper doesn't have the Uni-doc.

If in your wet bay, you have a water filter, you can take the canister off, take out the filter, put some bleach in the canister, and have the hose fill the tank. I find it the easiest way.

Exactly what i do.. A lot easier. I also have a valve on the end to help from spilling when hooking up.

Did you flip the cone washer so it's pointing in to open the check valve? If that works be sure you flip it back when finished.

I never flipped mine back. They worked fine the other way so why turn it back?

Country fill

Grumpy, Not yet but I will when I get home from work. Thank you. I'm going dry camping this weekend and am taking extra water and want to make sure I can add some with no problems. Tried it at home first and found out I had a problem. Glad I checked it before we went. First time dry camping since we just bought this RV last Aug.

Wow. What a great idea!
So simple. Doing it tomorrow.
I can’t believe I’ve done it by making a 5 gallons mixture and going through the hassle of siphoning to the tank for the last 9 years.
