Does anyone have any experience with having the fiberglass in the front cap repaired/replaced?

I bumped the front of my '06 Granite Ridge on a tree during the last camping trip of last year. It broke out a 12"X12" section of the front cap at the lower curve on the passenger side. I haven't talked to the dealer yet, but I am guessing that they will need to replace the entire front cap - which appears to be a single sheet of fiberglass about 8' x 4'. I was amazed how thin the material was, much thinner than the molded caps on many RVs.

If anyone has had this done - how much did it cost and how much of a hassle was it? Thanks.

I would look at a fiberglass repair shop first, then auto body. If you still have the piece they can probaly seam it back together and either gel coat or paint it to match. Look to the marine industry for this type specialized service.

Not all dealers do body work when it comes to fiberglass. They might farm it out and upcharge you to do so.

Good advice. There is no piece to replace as it shattered when it hit. I will see what the dealer will charge and also find out where they plan to send it (and maybe god there directly).

Just trying to get an idea what it should cost.

I did the same thing to my front cap on my 5th wheel and took it to a fiber glass repair place and you would never know it was repaired and that was 3 years ago. I have read where someone was saying that you would eventually be able to see the repair but after 3 years I still can't see it. It cost me 275 bucks for repair.

I should have mentioned that this place I took it to is in the RV repair business and they do everything.
