Front Mount Tool Box Help Please

I'm looking to add a rectangular aluminum locking box to the A frame to store my AGM battery, solar controller, and a couple odds and ends. What don't I know?

My plan is to use U bolts to secure it, grommets to feed the battery wires through, plus a vent just in case the AGM gives off a little gas.

The fit is snug but it looks like there are some models out there that will work.

I found some of those. Interestingly I didn't find one here and started to worry there was something with the Jayco design that caused an issue.

Some folks use self tapping screws but I'm thinking U bolts will be better.

I agree, I also think that the U bolts would be way more secure.

I was actually going to do this same thing on my JayFeather 27RL, but wow, there isn't but about 11" between the curve of the trailer to the back of the propane tanks.

I currently have 2 6v GC2 batteries hooked up, but I have 2 more of the same.

After consideration I've decided I'm going to put the extra 2 in a truck box in the truck and run heavy cable from that to the current 2 on the trailer.

I just couldn't really find a box small enough that would hold all 4 batteries.

I'm thinking I will need to hinge it backwards to get it fully open.

I'm also thinking for security having the bolts on the inside might be smarter.

I agree. Putting the stud end of the U bolts inside the box will be more secure.

I was going to do it that way, cut the ends of the studs off flush with the nuts, and put in a thick rubber to protect the batteries.

I believe there will be enough head space to leave the battery in a box as well to keep it isolated.
