X2 on Open Roads. Not only is the diesel much cheaper than regular gas stations, almost all are truck stops so there is no worries about getting your rig in and out safely. I include stops at these locations along my routes on every trip.

I also use Open Roads fuel card. The truck stops are all over the USA. I save 12 cents to over 1.00 a gal. About two days after you purchase fuel, it comes out of your checking account.

Gas buddy is an awesome app! We used it all the time when we were full time RVers! Still use it to find best prices locally!

We just completed a 5500 mile trip east of the Mississippi. Diesel ranged from $3.33 to $4.30 averaging around $3.90. Two years ago I replaced my 32 gallon tank with a 52 gallon. I might never recover the cost of the replacement but it allows more freedom to choose where we stop for fuel.

Fact is most of these "savings" cards want way too much information about you than are worth the savings. I use Fry's food savings which helps some but the truth is the little you are saving with these plans is pixxxxg in the wind.

We start looking for a good price when we get to about 1/2 tank. We belong to a few rewards clubs. Kroger, Shell, Marathon and more that I can't remember. I often can't remember how to log in at the pump. But beyond that we can't worry too much. It is what it is.

I love how politicians make you think they can control a worldwide commodity or that there is something we can produce cheaper here. Prices go up and down worldwide. One thing politicians can fo is control the taxes on the fuel. Since we use those taxes for road construction and maintenance fossil fuel vehicles have to pick up the tab for all the EVs out there. They are using the roads without paying any road taxes. In fact, they receive a tax break for buying one. That's something politicians could work on.

I'm in Texas near a whole lot of oil production. There isn't a Made in Texas gas station beating the foreign import gas.

There are parts of the world with easy drilling and vast quantities. North America isn't one of those places. Plus most people believe oil is oil. Keystone for example isn't intended for vehicle use. It was going to be exported for other uses.

Much bigger, more complex, issue that politicians want us to believe.

I love how politicians make dumb policy decisions without considering the consequences of those decisions. Those decisions do affect the price of fuel when they discourage financing of capacity improvements and long term ROI, companies are forced to take higher profits to satisfy investors in the short term. I buy approximately 2 million gallons of diesel/yr to run our trucks. About 1/4 of that is through a local mid-west distributor who tells me i am getting it cheaper than anyone in that state. On election day in 2020, the wholesale price of diesel was $1.2455/gal. Exactly one year later that same gallon wholesale was $4.633. And that was supposedly when demand was relatively low. The energy markets follow the U.S. lead, and those politicians and their policies of putting us as an energy independent or dependent country have a significant impact on what we pay at the pump. We were independent, now we are not and are begging UAE to produce more to bring the costs down instead of reversing failed policy. I bought 5000 gals last Wednesday at $2.219 wholesale or $3.022 after taxes, delivery and profit for the vendor. That sounds low because we have been conditioned (another word for brainwashed) to accept high prices, but in reality, that is $5000 more than I paid 2 1/2 years ago. That may be due to international markets, but they are under the influence of US policy.

Actually they know exactly what the consequences will be for the people they are making that decision for. They are making that decision to enrich themselves and those lining their pockets. Don't think for a minute that their motive as not to help themselves.

I know that last year, as soon as we crossed that state line, I-40 turned to s**t and about knocked our trailer apart. I’d have been happy to pay two bucks more per gallon in gas taxes if it meant a better highway over there. It’s worth it. JMHO.

We made 8000 mile trip in May and a total of 5/12 weeks making it to Niagara Falls and down to Gettysburg Pa through Tennessee Missouri Oklahoma and then heading back home to Las Vegas Nv. The most I paid for diesel was $4.89 and the less was $2.99 I too was expecting to pay more but didn’t. Most states payed around $3.19 a gal
