Fumoto Valve - Onon 8000 w Generator

I just performed the first oil change on my 2019 Seneca, Cummins Onan QD RV 8000 w generator. What a mess! To prevent another disaster, I want to install a Fumoto valve. I’ve been to their site, but I don’t which one will fit, any help will be appreciated.

It should be the F-110N valve. I am ordering one for my 29MVP.

Unless they changed the generator drain plug from 2018.5 to 2019 you will need the following valve AND adapter. The adapter is needed because the generator drain is 1/4" NPT and the adapter screws in, then the valve into normal threads. The number below is for the valve with a nipple on it which I highly recommend so you can add a hose to it to kee the oil from blowing around if its windy at all. The lever clip is optional but I think all the new Fumoto valve are shipping with them already on.

I stand corrected, I was looking at my order for another engine. The F107 and ADP710 are correct for my QG 4000 Spec R. Sorry for any confusion.

The F107N comes with a blue fiber gasket, which would normally be used between the oil pan and valve, if the threads were matching. But since they are not, did you use the gasket between the valve and adaptor, or between the oil pan and adaptor? Or did you use something else between the adaptor and oil pan (like Teflon tape)? Thanks!

The male threads on the adapter that you thread into the generator where the drain plug was is Tapered Pipe thread so I used Permatex thread sealant with PTFE as I prefer it over tape but tape would also work. Then you thread the valve into the adapter WITH the supplied gasket in place to seal the joint just as if you were threading it into an oil pan. Just remember you're working with brass fittings so dont over tighten.

I just tried to install a F107N in my Onan 8000 and it would not tighten. I compared the thread with the drain plug. The drain plug is a tapered thread. The F107N appears to be straight thread. Is the F710N a tapered thread? If so that’s the one I need,

You need the Adapter - ADP-710 to thread into the generator and then the Valve - F107N threads into the adapter.

There are many combinations and exceptions out there that Fumoto could not know every application. I had posted the part numbers and explained needing the adapter in post #3 of this thread.

When I ordered the parts rustynuts outlined, the fumoto customer service held the order until I confirmed that I in fact wanted the adaptor. If I had not had the required parts list I would have deferred to them and either stripped my pan or had to wait for the correct item to arrive.

Thank you for posting these. It's about time for an oil change so now is the time to do these.
I think I am going to grab a Fumoto valve for the engine while I am ordering also.

The one problem with ordering anything over the Internet is that you have to go by what is in the description and many times it turns out to be wrong. With items like the Fumoto Valve I called them. I have now gotten to where if there is any doubt in my mind I call the company. It has saved a bunch of lost time and effort returning and reordering parts. Fumoto, BTW, was very helpful.

I generally use tape but figure I'll try your recommendation but it lead me to one question... Since I've never worked with liquid thread sealant before, how long does it have to set before I can put the oil back in the generator?

Most joints using thread sealants can be put back into service immediately. Unless it says you must wait in the instructions - "fill it up"!
