Gas regulator recall reimbursement

Wow.. We'll have to give you the one precentor nickname. I guess there are still some good dealers after all. Defiantly not in Calif

Yea I was surprised at it all too. He told me the recall is all the hoses too, not just the regulator. Since I didn't buy the hoses, I'll pay for their hoses they install and get reimbursed by Jayco along with the regulator. Not bad, I'd say.

Got my letter. Just going to take care of this myself. Looking at the Marshall 253P. Seems pretty straight forward with the right putty as a sealant. Do I have to replace the pig tails or can I use what I’ve got.

The factory pigtails are junk and too short. I replaced mine with Marshalls and a little longer to offer better flexibility in the propane compartments. The Marshalls are good quality, i dont think you will ever have to worry about them

Ok. Thanks for the advice. I’ll do that. I’ll be all squared away.

Got my letter last week. I will do it myself. Dealer is 2.5 hrs away

With the blessed priced of fuel Today, compared to a year ago that trip would easily pay for the parts to do it your self.. And you'll end up with better quality replacement

Why bother with the warranty on this?

I got a recall letter too. I checked my serial number and I'm on the replacement list. They want me to bring the camper in for inspection. Not that they have a replacement in stock. They just want to verify that the regulator is on the list before ordering a replacement. I just covered the camper for winter storage and have better things to do than dropping my camper off for service, dealing with a ride home and back, and leaving it for an unknown period of time for service; all for replacing the thing with another cheap regulator.

So my point here is that if I'm replacing the thing, I might as well get a better regulator. The tank cover has an access door on the top that should make getting access to the tanks easy. You can't see the tiny indicator on the regulator that tells if the tanks have switched unless you pull the cover off. That's an unnecessary PIA. I ordered a replacement regulator, Cavagna, that has the indicator visible from the top. Yea, I could probably have gotten a fee replacement but the cost of my time, gas, and aggravation isn't worth the trip.

Got my letter last week. Called and told them I had replaced my original over a year ago due to the changeover not working. Gave them the info for the replacement and they said that Enerco was involved as well. Long story short, I ordered a Fairview regulator and will be changing the Enerco out once it arrives. In the meantime, I'll keep using the Enerco, opening only one tank at a time. Closest authorized dealers to me are 2+ hours away. They said they need to pressure test, etc. Getting an appointment, parts, driving...

Got called up yesterday from the dealer and was told that our regulater was in. So drove up there and we got a new regulater and both pig tails. Signed the paperwork and off the wife and I went back home. Was asked if I turned in the 2 pig tails and told them no and the manager said no problem . Been waiting for this stuff for months.

Ordered a new Marshall regulator from Tweety’s in Texas. Ordered yesterday morning and received it today. That’s fast service. Got the 253P. Only issue now is to figure how to mount it on the flat wall inside the propane bay. Hoping I can get through the wall with screws or something.

snip...... I replaced mine with Marshalls and a little longer to offer better flexibility in the propane compartments......snip

X2

Back in July I went with (2) Marshall Excelsior MER425-15, 1/4" Male Inverted Flare, Type 1 Pig Tail, w/Green Nut......., along with (1) Marshall Excelsior MEGR-253, 2-Stage Auto Vertical Bulk Regulator.

The 15" long pigtails reduced the tight hose radius at the connections and didn't interfere with my tank cover.
