First of all, isn't it grand to see gas (in the Southeast at least) pushing the $3 mark? Filled up yesterday at $3.08 and on our next trip, I have a stop planned in Southern Georgia where www.gasbuddy.com shows $2.99/gallon.

Recently signed up for Sam's Club Mastercard (no annual fee) which offers a 5% rebate on gas purchased ANYWHERE. While you have to wait until first quarter to get your rebate check and there is a $6000 purchase limit, 5% off $3 is 15 cents a gallon. Beats Flying J, Pilot, Sunoco and other programs that offer the standard 3-7 cents savings per gallon.

With an 80 gallon tank, that's $12 savings per fill-up at a net price of $2.85 on a $3 gallon.

This is by far the best deal I've found. Anyone else doing this?

Not in my neck of the woods. Matter of fact gas at local stations spiked up 14 cents/gal about 10 days ago, then dropped 4 cents to $3.34/gal.

Diesel has been stuck at $3.75/gal for weeks. Don't know if it's because of Biketoberfest or just because they can...................

We just dropped to $3.44 here in New York. Why do I feel that that is a bargain ! I remember paying $.28 per gallon to fill up my 59 Chevy !

Just filled up my car for $2.90 here is southeast TN. Diesel is $3.39. This is the lowest I have seen in quite a while.

Filled up for $3.19/gal. yesterday north of Detroit. Will make that long drive down to Texas a lot more affordable . . . if it stays there (or lower) until December.

We crossed into Tennessee yesterday from North Carolina to visit our daughter's family in Nashville. Was happy to pay only $2.94 for regular. We will definitely be filling up on the Tennessee side of the border before reentering NC.

Hey McGarrett, thanks for the info. I like that. Never looked into it although we have been GS members since 05.
We just filled up the Jeep in Branson, MO @ $2.83 yesterday.:D
Thoroughly enjoying our Bertha. Bought an electric, ceramic, oscillating, tower heater and with temps in the 50s day and night, it has really done a great job of keeping us comfortable............no furnace...LP:D
Enjoy,
Darrell

Welcome back Darrell... Good trip?! Let's hear more..

We head out tomorrow for a week. We should be in the 50s too so I have a ceramic heater that I hope will take the place of running the furnace. But since I haven't run it yet, I'll at least test it out and get the smell out.

Since you left I've had the valve extenders added to the outside rear tires so now I can read all 6 tires' pressure. Don't know why the dealer put all different pressures in, but I'm now consistent at 90-92 but I think I'm going to lower them to about 85-88 in the morning before leaving. The sticker on the rig says 82PSI and this gives me some room for any normal loss. Still need to figure out where to weight the rig.

Today I'm finishing up building a inside step well cover. Just need to add the vinyl covering and we should have an extra few square feet to walk on when not needing to access the door.

Cheers,

McGarrett

McGarrett........have a great trip. We won't be home until next weekend but this has been a great extended outing.
We are on the same page with tire psi. & extenders. Any major truck stop has scales that you can weigh your rig. If you see a ''CAT" sign advertised on a truck stop ad, you can weigh there. The scales are generally set up to the side of truck entrances. They usually will have a speaker that you can communicate with the clerk............however I have at times had to go inside because I couldn't reach the speaker button:rolleyes:
Like the door well cover. Ours works great and eliminates the pups from getting in the well.
Enjoy:cool:

So with the Sams Club 5% deal, I filled up at a net of $2.59 per gallon today. The math is $2.729 per gallon at the Sams Club in Valdosta GA LESS the 5% savings rebate by using the Sams MasterCard to pay.

These prices won't last Darrell, but you gotta smoke'm while you gott'em.

I started this thread originally not to talk about gas prices, but to point out the Sam's Club Mastercard deal. At 5% (15 cents on a $3 gallon), that seems to be the best gas savings credit card out there.

BTW, just got back from an 8-day trip to North Carolina. The trip and the Precept were both fabulous!

Filled Bertha with $2.79 reg Tuesday. Used our grocery gas discount to fill the Jeep @ $2.52 Wednesday. Today, price jumped $.10.......go figure.

Great info on the MasterCard. A real savings.
