I have a new Jayco 265TH travel trailer with the upgraded AC unit on the roof. I forget the size, but it was a little better than the standard AC that they come with. What size (wattage) generator do I need to run the AC?
Looking for a little portable quiet genny.

One of the "little portable quiet genny" will most likely not be enough to run the A/C unit without prior installation of a Soft Start.

I would seriously consider installing one of the "soft start" type modules to reduce the compressor start up.

Honda is the best and very costly. I have a Predator 3500 watt and it works very well and about 1/2 the cost of the Honda.

I have a Jay Feather 2022 22rb. My unit has the Furrion 14.5 btu rooftop AC. It currently doesn't have a soft start module installed on it. It will not run with a small 1800-2000 watt generator. The unit requires either a 3500 watt generator with a 30 amp receptacle OR two small generators like the 1800-2000 watt units working together via a parallel kit that has a 30 amp receptacle. Basically it's the same amount of wattage BUT the two smaller units are easier to move around and sometimes, for other things other than AC, you can use just one of them.

I have a 267BHS - with the 13kBTU (I think?) Dometic AC unit.

I have a no-name Chinesium inverter generator, Ridler or something? 2500W surge, 1800W running - it will run my AC, but it's not happy about it (bogs right down when the compressor starts, but picks up again right away)

We rarely boondock, for the 1 or 2 weekends a year we use it; it's OK.... if we were off-grid more, I'd add a soft-starter to the AC and get a second gennie to parallel.

3000W surge, 2500W running would probably be enough for most single AC units, IMO

My 154BH has the small Dometic Brisk II A/C and I had added Dometic's soft start hardware. It will *just* run on a 2000 Watt suitcase inverter generator (Yamaha EF2000is clone) with eco-mode turned off. 1.1 gallons in the generator and a 3 gallon aux tank seems to be good for 7 hours on a hot day.

Adding a second identical generator in parallel - I still had to leave one of them with eco-mode turned off. All I gained was simultaneous A/C and microwave operation.

If I had to do it over again, I'd go up to a 3000+ watt model.

We can run our Dometic 15,000 on an 1800 watt Inverter with the SoftStartRV installed.

Wonder if it has something to do with Dometic's soft starter?

I have the 13.5k dometic a/c.
My new honda 2200 inverter will run the a/c on eco mode, and then I can fire up the micro. Refer on electric and converter left as is. Oh, my genny is converted to propane. And through the wife's cpap for good measure.

Same as me. I have the 3500 Watt Predator and it runs my AC and also can run the Microwave at the same time. Right now they are on sale for $650 which I think is a steal!

I agree with some what costly.
I've got 2 2004 models, I know at 2004 prices, about $900 each. Have run like tops through about 6 hurricanes.
Did I say run like tops....
Just as preventive measures I sprung for a new 2200 and only run propane.
Micro air soft start and 2200 will run most rv a/ac's no problem what else you can run is determined by total wattage and "green acre" usage.
My own opinion you get what you pay for, MY experience has been great.
