Hello and thanks for having me. I'm an old (70) retired divorced guy who's decided to dump my stuff and follow the sun out west with my two old dogs. If I don't make it, one of them can drive. I have a Chevy Trailblazer 4wd with trailer pkg including trans cooler. Towing capy. says 5700, gvwr 7000. I'm looking at a 19rd or a 198 swift rd. Was also looking at Keystone Vantage 19UL...which I liked but it seems that at 4900#, it would be about 1000# heavier than the Jayco. I used to pull a 32' Prowler when kids were young so it's not my first experience. I'd like to get it outfitted with solar panels and some electronic stuff but don't think anyone here in Minnesota does that. Anyway....would love any comments and advice you might have regarding my choices, etc. Thanks so much.

Welcome to the JOF Keeleyson! How neat to be rv shopping! :)

Seems like you have some technical questions that might be overlooked here in the New Members Forum. When You get a chance, head over to the Towing and Tow Vehicles and post your questions there as your questions will get more 'traffic' there :)

What is the wheelbase of you TV and length of your TT?

The SUV's have a short wheelbase and can give you some problems with the wind resistance of the TT.

At 3900#, you'll want to be sure to get a good WDH and brake controller.

Good luck with your adventure.

Kind regards,
Doug

Welcome! Glad you have faith in your dogs being able to drive! My dogs would be terrible at it. They have watched me work on stuff but never seem to help. Our oldest dog never was any good with carburetors.

Good luck in finding the best camper for your needs. There is alot of experience and good advice here.

Welcome aboard Keeleyson. I am assuming you have been to Hilltop Trailers. They have been very good to work with. If you are not aware, there is a very large camping show at the Minneapolis Convention Center in February or March.

I cannot help with your TT/TV combination; just remember that if you are going to go full-timing you will have a fair amount of items you.

I like the idea of solar myself, but every where I like to go is in the middle of a forest.
