Good evening!

I'm Darren, and we're thrilled to introduce ourselves as the proud new owners of a 2024 Jayco Jay Feather 27BHB. I've dreamt of owning an RV for years, and now that it’s finally happened, I’m beyond excited to dive into this amazing adventure and see where it takes us!

We’re a family of three at home—myself, my wife Rachelle, and our 2-year-old daughter Raegan. We also have two grown children, Janee’ and Jordan, along with our grandson K.J. Of course, we can’t forget our lovable dog, Ellie, who’s just as much a part of the crew!

We live in Northern Virginia and are getting ready for our very first RV trip. If you have any tips or tricks for us RV newbies, we’d love to hear them!

Looking forward to connecting,
Darren

Welcome to the Forum from Western New York State!

Congratulations on the new Jay Feather! Enjoy the journey and the destination. Don't sweat the small stuff and expect to have forgotten something at home. It happens to the best of us....just ask my DW why my hearing aid charger was still at home...on a 6-day trip.

Use a pad and pencil to write down the things you wish you had brought with you, but there's no need to try and pack every single thing. We adapt and improvise. Just never forget the coffee and dog chow. :D

Congratulations and welcome to the world of glamping :) I can't say enough about how good u-tube, goggle, Amazon :) and here of course are for endless info but the best way to get to know your RV is go glamping and use everything at a full hook up site, it's like a cottage on wheels :) Also camp (not glamp) without full hook ups to try out your battery, water tank/pump, HWT and fridge on propane, etc. Not to put a damper on your excitement but RV's can be notorious for annoying issues hence try everything and make sure all is working while under warranty. Take the time to inspect things as you go like the roof and window/slide seals. It's good to have a tool kit with a variety of things like fuses, hose washers, and tools of course :) Good to know some campground info as far as distance to water/electricity incase you need extensions, also blocks for leveling side to side and under jacks and wheel chocks of course. Enjoy glamping!

Welcome to the form.

Isn't it fun to be excited!?

Go out there, have fun but know the first few trips will likely be working out 'the bugs.' Your camper is new, but like all new campers, you'll find some issues small and sometimes not so small. It's okay, they can get fixed or you can be handy and fix them yourself.

I'm one who always wrings her hands about potential water leaks. I didn't have water in my new Jay Feather for 5 minutes before finding a leak. Check ALL threaded water inlet hoses to faucets and to your outside shower (behind an access panel.) Then check the threaded connections of your sink drains and SHOWER PAN (also another access panel at floor level.) These connections are many times loose.

Take your time and make a checklist for setting up and breaking own. It is very helpful and will keep you from potentially breaking your camper.

Overall, have fun!

Set your expectations very low those first few trips. There will be fun and exciting issues that will need to be worked out.

Enjoy the process and welcome!
