I'm sure this has been done before and after thinking about it, I wonder why Jayco doesn't do something similar?

My Greyhawk storage compartment doors flip up and have no struts. So it's the "hold them up with your head while you use two hands to rummage around in there."

My first thought was struts ($$$), but then I decided to try some magnets. This is just a trial to see how long they'll last.

Hot glued small neodymium magnets to the door handles and painted some small fender washers to match the body where they'll meet.

Hot glued the washers to the body panels.

Since the doors are vertical, it doesn't need much holding power. So far, in the driveway, they're working. I don't know if they'll hold up for several seasons. But my total investment is $2.75 for all the doors. :)

You can use magnetic latches similar to what you have done, or you can add the plastic latches, surprising there wasn't any type of latch from the factory. Every trailer I have ever owned had latches
