Heater Continues to RUN

This is interesting. Got into the camper 26BH this afternoon and plugged it up to the house to get ready for our camping trip this weekend coming and the Heater was blowing. OK.. The gas was turned off and the thermostat was off is there something I am missing. I have the old style thermostat that runs only the heat and was in the near future going to a digital and wondering if I should go out Monday and replace if the thermostat is broken now.

Does anyone have any suggestions and because this a single use thermostat is there any difference on the thermostat I should purchase and any recommendations.

With the gas off it wanted to start and the fan blows automatically. When it couldn't light it couldn't complete the cycle.

If switch on the stat is in the off position, there shouldn't be anything running or trying to run regardless of the gas being on or off. Maybe the blower plenum temperature switch is stuck closed. On my home furnace, turning the switch on the stat off doesn't kill power to it, it just won't let the furnace cycle.

I turn the switch on the front of the furnace (under the vented cover) off so that the furnace can not come on when I don't want it on.

This could be a good excuse to replace the thermostat.

Can you tell if it was trying to light? If the gas is on, does it start heating?

In my signature there is a link to the service manual (under Atwood). That is a good place to start your diagnosis. For your particular problem they list three potential problems:
1. Bad thermostat
2. Shorted thermostat leads
3. Bad relay

Take a look at the troubleshooting section and it may help you diagnose in more detail. Post what you find and hopefully everyone can help you figure out what is going on.

Talked with my local dealer. We had to cut the power at the fan something is wrong with the relay or board. Going camping this weekend and so he told me to cut it or bring to him and he would do it. It was not simple to get to it because the heater is under the Jack Knife couch and it had to be removed because there were no other ways to get to it. What a headache. The box covering the heater was flimsy and I had to restaple it so it would hold up better. There is no other switch to the heater and it is tied into the refrigerator fuse box. Will let you know the out come next week when I take to the dealer to have repaired hopefully under warranty.

You are doing the right thing. It's new, let the dealer fix it. No point in diving into a new rig with a so obvious problem.
