I just bought a 184BH. Picked it up last week. Unfortunately I won't be able to take it out until September. I never thought about a WD hitch or Sway bar because of how light the TT is. It towed pretty smooth and level behind my '07 Toyota Tacoma. any thoughts would be appreciated.

Welcome to the JOF micron! The 'towing techies' will probably weigh in on the wdh/sway bars. Congrats on the new tt! :)

I would say that towing behind a Tacoma you should be fine without a WDH. A friction sway bar might be a nice addition though. Keeps the trailer on good behavior on windy days and when passing a semi. I bought a brand new one on Amazon for $50... then I saw that my local RV place had the same one for $38. Easy to add. You can buy a bolt on adapter that will go underneath your 2" ball and will hook right up. Drill 6 holes and then screw it in. Easy to do.

I did mine at the same time I added the front stabilizers. Between the hitch amd the stabilizers I spent a whole hour putting everything together.

Welcome and glad to see ya here.
I use a Husky Friction Sway bar on the right side. Really doesn't make difference I suppose if it
is a R/H or a L/H model. I do recommend at least having one installed. Inexpensive and no hassle to put on remove.
Brand name is only a brand name. I honestly think they are all manufactured in the same shop.

Thanks everyone. I am really leaning towards getting a sway bar. I didn't have much trouble at all towing it home. It was only a 15-20 mile trip, mostly backroads. I do plan on some highway driving so it would be a useful addition. I also need to pick up a decent generator and portable waste tote because most of the camp sites I plan to go to are state run and have no hook-ups. The service guys at the dealer told me I should only need a 2000 watt gen. because the AC is small. What types of generators are you guys using? Thanks agaain. I love this forum.

I will be buying a Champion 2000w generator. They are almost as good as the Honda but half the price. I can run my 184bh on a 1000w, but it is it optimum. As for the tote... Get a low profile one. I got a 25 gallon one that is not low profile and I can barely use it because it is usually higher than the hole on the tote. I'll be buying another one that IS low profile. Also make sure that it has an attachment to putt it with the ball on your truck so you can easily transport it to the dump station.

micron,

When considering if a WDH is required one important thing to consider is the weight rating of your TV's OEM receiver. Confirm that the receiver's "weight carrying mode" limit can handle the 184BH's actual "loaded" weight and the "loaded" tongue weight.

If you have the 13,500 BTU A/C unit, a 2000W generator in most cases won't start it. In many cases ideally one needs a 3,000W genny, but my Yamaha 2400iSHC starts my 13,500 BTU A/C without any problems.

micron-- whd probably not required but a friction sway bar will keep that warm fuzzy feeling in your stomach in stead of all over you and the dash when a 53footer goes buy at 75mph and real close. Larry
