Hitch lock

I have recently had my Jayco jay flight 24rbs 2018 stolen. I do have it back. I want a hitch lock. I have purchased 3 different ones and returned them all because they don't fit. Any suggestions appreciated.

I believe your TT has an underslung coupler. It requires a different style of lock. Here's one that'll fit. There may be others too.

I always keep a padlock on the coupler in the closed position. The ones designed for it doesn’t gone much area for a bolt cutter. Probably not as stout as some, but the RV is stored on my property. Will deter people looking for an easy hit.

x2 I have that very same Masterlock on mine. Maybe you have an underslung coupler?

Ha. Great minds think alike. I have those in place now. Still was looking at hitch lock to add. Having had my rig stolen has me looking at everything I can to make the jack hats leave my property alone.

I didn't catch where you store it, but I have a Blink doorbell camera mounted on mine with a Sync module. Since I now just leave the trailer at our seasonal location year round, there's wifi which gives me an instant motion detection live video on the Alexa screen next to my easy chair and I can have a conversation with someone who is at the trailer....in season or out. The same live video simultaneously is on my phone. The sync module records motion video to the cloud and is easily retrieved on my phone anywhere on the planet I have a signal. Easy to hand to a cop also.

Look for a lock that the LockPickingLawyer says he'd buy. He picks or defeats most trailer locks very quickly. So when he says he'd buy one, it means it's hard enough to defeat to make most thieves move on to something easier. I'd also make it even harder and use something to lock the wheels.

Thanks for the conversation. I paid bucks (told you I was jaded ever since my rig was stolen!). It was a lot of money (Incl Shipping almost $300 ugh!) but I don't want to mess around. With several tens of thousands in the rig... pony up for $300 was my thought. I emailed photos to the company. They say I need this one. I hope they are right. As a side note... lock number 3 that I have prepared to return, I like the company and lock picking lawyer does also. I emailed them same photos as proven locks. Very responsive but they said I need the one I got (prepared for return that I am sending back). I replied asking for them to confirm (didn't tell them it doesnt fit). They reply, yes, 100% confirmed that the lock (that I have that doesn't fit) is the lock I need. Thus another reason I switched for this other company. Let's hope that lock number 4 now ordered will fit the bill!

Just a heads-up:

I've found that Jayco provides different outer flange "widths" on their 2-5/16" underslung couplers. The Jayco owner reviews for the above referenced (link) Atwood AMPlock (AT89006) make note of this difference of compatibility. I wish it would fit my Jayco coupler!

My 2018 Jay Flight 24RBS has a underslung 2-5/16" coupler but has a 5-1/8" outer flange width, the Atwood AMPlock (AT89006) only has a 4-5/8" opening.

I had to return a 'Gorilla Guard' brand coupler lock (similar style as the Atwood) because of the larger "flange" width issue.

I wonder if the different underslung 2-5/16" coupler flange 'width' is Jayco model specific (ie: Jay Flight, White Hawk, etc..)?

Bob, your 24rbs 2018 and my 24rbs 2018 were probably on the production line next to each other (have same furnace and same hitch). The amplock (lock number 3 to return) experienced exactly what you point out. Keeping fingers crossed for proven lock to fit and it has chain coupler components for chain hooks too. I will let all know.

To make it work I have to flip the direction of it but adding a pin lock to it as well makes it pretty good. To add to it I cannot find any of the Bolt locks that lock picking lawyer has ever done... which honestly amazed me and intrigued me as well. Glad you got your TT back. Before buying a hitch lock, make sure to do a product review on how hard is it to bypass. Many are very very easy to do. Very few are not.

Watch the Lock Picking Lawyer on youtube. It is scary how fast he can pick a lock or break it with simple tools. There is a few he says he would buy, but not many.

Take a look at his brand. He tested many other hitch locks on his YouTube channel, he opened most faster than you can blink.

I used that AMP lock one on your first picture. I had to grind a little off the ball retention metal that is welded on the bottom the jayco hitch. Just a little grinding allowed it to fit. You could also grind the pin on the the AMP lock a bit.
