I have been using the same Uhaul 3” @ $30.00 for the last 4 years with out any problems.

Just a cheap pin with a padlock in it. I've got a set of four same-keyed Master padlocks that make locking things easy. A bolt cutter will destroy it, but it serves as a deterrent.

I have multiple locks keyed alike for propane, batteries, storage of equalizer bars and hitch, hitch pin.

I have used the special locking pins but either the lock failed like your experience or it froze on and I had to use my plasma cutter to get the pin off. I switched to this style, drilled out the hole and use a weather proof padlock.

[Old and soft]

I suggest carrying a house key. When, not if your door spring breaks it won't open. The garage door mechanic will tell you the spring is replaced from the inside, call me when I have access.

I use a grade 8 bolt and lock nut. Thieves don’t expect to have to deal with that,so they have left me alone so far. Jay
