Thanks bub, I just got this trick from another guy on hereSo new and shiny. Nice work.
And ordered! Thanks for the tipBTW I think I have the same setup. I really like these
TonGass (2-Pack) Premium Snap L-Pins for Weight Distribution Hitches - 4 1/4” x 1 3/4” L-Pins with Integrated Snap Clips - Minimize Weight Distribution Hitch Noise - Zinc-Coated Heavy-Duty Steel Amazon.com
So much easier and they stay in place.
Any chance you could snap a few pics? Would like to see your setup. ThanksMounted mine to the top of the A-frame, a little easier to slide it in & out (less bending) and it gets it up out of the dirt. Drop a plastic cup over the ball to protect the grease & keeps me from accidentally getting those black stains on my shorts!
I went with a short piece of 2 inch steel tube, a few small welds attached it vertically out of the way. Pre- measured a 5/8” hole to align with the hitch hole and use my locking pin to secure it. Some clown stole the pin clevis once at a hotel stop. Hence locking pin. Added some smaller tube later to drop the short end of the bars in. Nothing to store, nothing on the ground. Changed out to spring type flip pins for the bar retainers and added a crimped wire retainer loop to keep those from going anywhere.Mine's lying on an old carpet sample on the floor just inside the camper.
I had mine like that but I wanted to open it up for more storage space so that’s when the seen another guy on here do that so I just took his trick and did the same thing.Mine's lying on an old carpet sample on the floor just inside the camper.
Sorry for the slow reply, had to wait for the weather to cooperate! Here are a couple of pix of my setup. The 2" receiver plate is available from most RV places, it is listed as an RV bumper receiver. I had to make my own U-bolts to account for the height of the a-frame.Any chance you could snap a few pics? Would like to see your setup. Thanks
I have my receiver on the bottom, and now after seeing yours I’m definitely gonna move it up top, finding 6.5-7inch ubolts is hard, I got away with 6in onesSorry for the slow reply, had to wait for the weather to cooperate! That is why I made my own u-bolts. Used a 3' piece of 3/8 steel rod cut to the approximate length, cut threads on both ends and then bent it in my vice. Once installed I just cut the ends to their finished lengths.I have my receiver on the bottom, and now after seeing yours I’m definitely gonna move it up top, finding 6.5-7inch ubolts is hard, I got away with 6in ones
Here’s an updated idea I just had, not sure if anyone on here came up with this yet or not but here it is, I was messing with my solar charger on my camper and noticed some surface rust on my A-FRAME mounted hitch so I looked at my tongue jack cover and took it off and I covered my hitch with it and wow it actually worked and covered up the hitch! So obviously I took it off and then it it back on my jack so now I’m gonna order another new e from Amazon.Got this from a fellow camper on here, decided to do it myself and wow it turned out nice and opened up some storage space my 25RB
Hey buddy this literally just popped in my head while I was messing with my camper, it’ll definitely protect it from the elements of the weather. I took the cover off my jack to see and it fits perfectly.Sorry for the slow reply, had to wait for the weather to cooperate! Here are a couple of pix of my setup. You're not storing this big hitch in your storage of your camper, this allows you more roomI don't get it. How did that provide storage space?
It's almost time for me to have a constant black stain on the front of my shirt. I'm female and when you're bending to mess with the hitch 'certain parts' tend to get in the way. I've given up trying to remember to be careful. No matter if I try or forget, it always seems to happen.Mounted mine to the top of the A-frame, a little easier to slide it in & out (less bending) and it gets it up out of the dirt.
