How much coax?

I'm fairly new to camping. If we are staying somewhere that offers free cable, how much coax do you think I need should have to get from the source to the input on my trailer? 12 feet?

I would carry 2 x 25 with a connector. I was at a cg last month and the cable connection was all the way at the front of the site and my input is at the very back of the camper so that was about 40 plus ft. But last week at Disney it was literally about 5 ft away.

Coax is small and light. But I was goingto say a 25' and say about 12', with a splice connector. Also note, note all splice connectors are the same. When I wired my stick house I found this out, but I do not recall the differences anymore.

I've used all of the 25'x2 before.
Those 10' or less are rare.

Another vote for 2) 25' coax cables with a connector. It's very cheap insurance.

My advice: carry EVERYTHING in 2 x 25' chunks.

- RG6 Cable TV: 2 x 25' chunks (plus connector)
- Freshwater Hose: 2 x 25' chunks
- Shore Power: Usually comes with about 25', bring another 25' appropriate-gauge extension

... and so on. That way you can use the shortest necessary, but extend where needed.

Stop by your local cable TV or satellite provider. They will usually cut you one and put connectors on it for you for free. They are much better quality than anything you'll get at Radio Shack or Walmart. I have a 25' ish cable.

I used to carry two 25', but now carry a 12' and 25' and a coupler.

I figure if it's any farther away than that we'll either watch movies on our media player, leave the TV off all together or run to a store and buy another section.

Of course, a majority of our camping is in state parks, so coaxial is just something else in our very little storage compartment taking up room......

I always carry a short type F cable, a splitter, and two 25-foot type F cables. Always carry a bunch of FEMALE to FEMALE adapter F connectors also...

This allows me to use one of the 25-foot RG cables to hookup to my CABLE INPUT and the second RG cable to just just throw under the trailer to use for an TV setup on an outside table to watch sitting under the awning...

I carry a 25' coax and a 50' with the connector to join them if needed. I have never needed more than that (and the only time I needed > 50' was when I was yard camping and had to poach the cable feed from the closest house so DW could watch NASCAR)

I have most of a 500' roll and the tools/connectors to make up my own. I carry female connectors, a 2 way splitter, & 50' and 25' cables.
