NYC!!! I came in from NJ via outer bridge crossing towards Verrazano Bridge, The two lanes form Outer bridge were so constricted by construction that I had to drive down the center line all the way across the bridge otherwise I would have wrecked, That F'n city is so screwed up.
I will never spend another penny there. Stay away from NYC at all costs!! BTW it cost me $140.00 in tolls with 4 axles getting in & out!

Robert9999, I agree with what you said about the outer bridge and the verrazano. I don't even like driving a car through there. I live on long island so I have to take at least 1 bridge out. I find that if I am going to NJ or PA, the gwb is less stressful then the way that you went although it is a few miles longer. Traffic is inevitable around here and I have been doing it for so long it is like second nature but it still sucks. Here is a pic of the last time that we were on the gwb. At least it has multiple lanes.

Better than cutting through Staten Island in my opinion.

So right, it took me 3 HOURS from the outer bridge to exit 48 on the LIE. The longest part was going from the VZ bridge to the Nassau county line on the LIE with Staten Island & especially Brooklyn (BQE). I had planned this as a Sunday entry into NYC hoping that traffic would be lighter than a business work week day, WRONG!!! BTW I was born & raised in Queens & lived on LI for 10 years before moving down to Florida. It was bad back in 1988 when I left but it seems 10 times worse now. The population on LI alone more than doubled. I used to commute into the city & the Bronx 5 days a week. Sure as **** don't miss that.

Portland doesn't really have a rush hour. Which one? The one I live near really has none.

It’d be the Portland Oregon Metro area with 2.35 million people. Just two bridges for vehicles to cross the Columbia River into Vancouver, Wa. can get congested at certain times of the day.

Didn't realize there were almost 2.5 million. But can believe it...
Even the bypass, think it is 205 or 215, is BAD!

It's 205 - and yes, it's bad. We've been through that area just once with the trailer on our way to a campground in central Oregon. I-84 in that area is even worse - had to run on that for a few miles to get to US-26. I like the path of least resistance which is why we immediately head east out of the south Seattle area before heading south....

OK . We need to get to Oregon and thats good to know. Portland ME has 62000 people and 250,000 in a thirty mile radius. Having an ocean on one side helps. If there is a traffic jam its cause someone did something dumb

Chicago via 90/94... people actually drive that every day... I thought for sure I would pop a tire with the road it was the worst I have ever driven... small cars probably are in the holes I drove over...

I just towed our fiver through Atlanta. Wow. I thought Dallas was bad; no, not in comparison to Atlanta.

Construction everywhere, last minute lane changes, poorly signed exits, my Garmin was more confused that I was. Awful, Awful, Awful.

The only positive thing to say about Atlanta traffic is that I found the other drivers to be helpful - letting me change lanes, etc., when I had to.

But the extent of the traffic - Awful, Awful, Awful. Scary, white knuckle awful.

Now the number one city for me to avoid.
