Inside a post how do you identify a specific user?
I am used to using the @ delimiter followed by the user name.

I have always seen "@Bob" as an unnecessary bit of "textspeak" - and, please, let's not start scattering "hashtags" around.

It's just as easy to simply use the name, as you would in conversation:

"As Bob said.."

"Yes, Bob, I agree with you..."

Yes, it's old fashioned and "Boomer-ish" of me, but I happen to enjoy the written word, used correctly.

The real value of a user hastag is that the forum notifies the user of the mention.

The forum software doesn't set an alert when a members name is called out in a post. You'll either need to send them a Pm or if they have already posted to the thread, they should get a subscription notice of the new post.

huh? the poster's name (handle) is right next to the post. Then, there's always the search feature, that honestly, doesn't seem to be a priority for many ...
