Increasing size of bed platform

We are interested in a Jayco HT 24RE. It can be ordered with a queen size or king size mattress. We may have found one that we like at a good price but it has a queen size mattress. It seems like all you need to do is increase the platform size of the bed and then be able to put in a king size mattress. Has anyone ever increased the size of their bed platform to go from a queen size to a king size mattress? And if so, how did you do it? Thanks for any information you could provide.

I thought about doing that I was going to cut the middle add apiece reinforce. Add a piece at the hinge and reinforce. I lucked out talked my wife out of it.
