Initial Quality poll. How would you rate the overall quality of your RV AS DELIVERED. One through ten, one being terrible ten being outstanding. This poll is for those that purchased new, not used..

We need everyone that is relevant to vote in these quality polls so we can use the info as a reference point. Many times only problems are reported on forums so these polls will show just how good or bad the experience has been for all members. Please Vote.

This poll is just that, a poll on initial quality. Report specific problems in the Jayco Problems and Issues forum. Civil discussion is welcome BUT rants, vents, and brand bashing will not be tolerated in this thread.

We have a latch on the screen door that came loose, and a main breaker that seems to be a little sensitive. Other wise, not really any complaint. Well, may the crease in the wall paper by the kitchen.... but really?

The first year we had a big slide motor go out while away from home. Our local dealer coordinated the repairs. Had a pin hole leak in aluminum rim and it was handled quickly. Also had front cap cracks which was handled quickly.

Brake shoes were contaminate with grease from the factory, fixed by Jayco and Dexter under warranty.

Jayco quality

The problems we had were neutral wire lose behind breaker panel and a 6 inch slit in the main awning but we really like the finish of our product

I rate the quality high based on the value. There are some design and fit/finish issues that I would change, but you have to expect that on such a reasonably priced unit.

After initial inspection and after 1st camping trip no mechanical or significant cosmetic issues encountered, no return trip to dealer for warranty work. I did have to pop a few decal bubbles with a pin, but that was the end of that, no bubbles to this day.

First trip out the refrigerature was getting warm, flame was lite but very small. Got home and checked it out, gas line was kinked. Gas regulator was always green even with empty gas tanks. Some moulding came off.

In 2014, plenty of issues, many related to substandard dealer. Now in 2016, much much better and a great dealer makes any of the few minor issues very tolerable and easily managed

I would give it a 4 - 5.
No issues with appliances, IOW Refer, Heat, AC, Water, Etc have all been perfect.
However.
1) Bedroom slider fell off on first trip - held up by 4 ridiculously small screws.
2) Rippling trim on both sides (outside) where the skirt meets the wall.
3) Bubble in front outside panel when it gets hot.
4) Slide bulb seal comes out of its track every time I close the slide.
5) Small leak in shower enclosure.
6) Lots of screws driven in at angles.
7) Had to put shutoff valves on fresh water overflow lines to prevent water from siphoning out when driving.
IMO all of these are Jayco issues, do to lack of QC. The various appliances built by other companies have been trouble-free.

Get a can of RV slide out seal lubricant. It's a foamy substance in an aerosol can. Keep the bulb seals and wipe seals in and out lubricated with this stuff. Helps from the slide molding from pulling the bulb seals out from sticking. Maybe that will help. Did with me.

1st year... initially issues with dinette pulling apart and dinette fabric frayed - no big deal... Then had rust issues on frame/jacks, cracked front cap, and tear in roof believed to be related to front cap replacement. Major headache but Jayco honored the warranty and replaced/repaired everything. I'd hate to see the amount spent on the warranty work!

I gave it a 9 as of today. We are taking our 2nd outing this weekend. We will see as we us use more features. Our dealer on the other hand..... well, can I give them a negative rating.?

We've had more problems with this one than our previous two but they're component oriented so I can't really blame Jayco. Probably the biggest issue is a small section of ceiling in the walk-in closet is separating from the wall. Looks like they were off the mark when they stapled into the studs. Fit and finish wise, everything else was pretty much perfect. The only other problem was a missing fan blade screw that was easily remedied with a trip to HD.

Other issues have been a faulty fuel pump on the gen set after 30 mins use. Cooling unit on the Norcold going bad and storage door seal gaskets coming off. The doors are manufactured and shipped as assemblies to Jayco. The company is Challenger Door and they were very good about sending me new door seals to address the issue.

I was one of those in the 4 Category. We had several defects which should have been caught at the factory. The major ones included our slides being out of square and failure to install required drainage holes which resulted in water entering our unit. The most obvious was our kitchen counter being out of level. From front to back the level was off by about 1.25" and was blatanly obvious on visual inspection, You actually could not miss it because it was right at eye level when you open the entry door.

I will give kudos to our dealer, they have been very responsive to all of our issues and have now resolved all of them. Unfortunately it has taken the entire summer to get through them... Again as a result of Jayco since they do not maintain a parts inventory. We waited 10 weeks for a new counter top.

I'm at 9. I have experienced only minor issues over 2.5 years but we have never returned to the dealer for repair. Some issues were not evident at delivery but occurred or were discovered shortly after.
1. Speaker cone torn from factory (cheap, Chinese paper speakers)
2. Loose or exposed wiring at the distribution panel
3. Shower knob broke in half during one of our first trips

Our trailer only had one issue that necessitated a dealer visit during the warranty period. I went ahead and had the dealer fix some other issues while I was there, but those were user error (I think). All repairs were conducted to my satisfaction at no cost to me and were timely completed was in no hurry at the time, so I told the dealer to "get to it when you can")

We have had no other issues of note on the trailer in 2 years, so I feel pretty comfortable rating our initial quality pretty high. Granted, it's not perfect, and I never expected it to be. That being said, it was better than I thought it would be. Yes, there are a few fit and finish issues, but certainly nothing that affects the usage of the trailer, and most of these issues are basically unseen. So I'll fix them (if I decide to) some day and in the meantime, I'm enjoying my trailer!

Thanks P25ct, I will look into that. However in my case it seems the portion of the bulb seal that is stapled to the back wall of the trailer is spread so that the bulb pulls out too easy.

I gave it a 5.

A couple of minor issues that did not affect usability. Maybe I'll fix them, someday.

Generally good cabinet work. The durability of the underlying structure is always a question...
