I would like to install a safe in my 2019 248RBSW. The safe I purchased is 20" tall by 7" wide by 14" deep. It looks similar to a desktop computer. My first thought is to open up what looks like wasted space under the little table built into the side of the bed - similar to a night stand. Does anyone know if that box is empty space such that I could cut into the face of it to make a cabinet door and mount the safe inside of it? Does anyone have an alternate idea for locating a safe in a Jayco travel trailer similar to mine? Thank you so much in advance!

Welcome to the forum. What I did is I put a little small one you should be able to install it on the floor buy mines is not as large as yours.

When I purchased my current rig, it came with a safe that was in the under bed storage. It was more of a "hidey hole" for valuables but it was out of sight.
I removed it for the space but it would be a good location if bolted securely to the floor.

The bedside tables are basically just covering your pass through storage. The hollow space is accessed from your outside hatch. I wouldn’t mount a safe there unless you are bolting it through the frame. A determined thief would have the entire safe gone in fewer than 5 minutes.

I mounted a lightweight steel long gun cabinet underneath the lower bunk in mine. The back of the cabinet is screwed down to the floor, and to open the door it has to be lifted up. The cabinet is completely out of sight when the hinged lower bunk support is in its down position.

You might be able to secure your cabinet's back to the floor underneath your bed, so it's only accessible after lifting the hinged mattress support.

Thanks!!!!

Thanks for your ideas! I agree that under the bed is a solid option. That’s likely where I’ll put it if I find out that I can’t convert the box Jayco built into the side of the bed into a hideout for the safe. It sure looks like that box is just empty, but I’m a bit hesitant to cut into it without knowing for sure that they didn’t hide any wiring or other stuff inside there.
