Just picked up our 174BH last weekend and the first thing i want to do is install some supports to make the bed lift easier and remain in place while accessing the storage. Anyone have experience doing this? What size (weight and length) shock would you recommend?

Thanks,

Aaron

For our 195RB walk-around short Queen I picked up a "standard bed lift kit" from Camping World. The struts are about 16" or so when fully compressed and are 90lb units. Had to improvise a bit when installing them but so far they are working fine.

I installed an electric linear actuator with a 3 position DPDT switch, UP/OFF/DOWN. The unit has an automatic shut off when it reaches max up/down. Wife loves it! We needed it because of the 4" memory foam mattress topper that we put on top of the regular mattress.

Bought the same kit and installed it this past weekend. Works great! Thanks for the info!

does your bed lift from the side? I have a 2022 174bh and the bed lifts from the side insted of the end and most say not to use on that type of opening. How is it working so far?

I had bed lifts on my 195RB but replaced mattress with a memory foam and to much weight. I installed a linear with the switch on the side wall and it works great. I propped it up to get the measurements and noted some bed bowing so bought a piece of aluminum angle iron to re-enforce the bottom of the bed. Really great except it does made the space a bit more difficult to fit everything.

It is great to not worry about it falling on my head if the prop were to be knocked out!
