Just read the tread on this subject and found it helpful. But in my 2011 Jay-Flight 22FB , when I lift the bed the whole front 2 feet by total width of bed opens in to the storage area. So if I glue the insulation to the underside will that be enough?
I realize some is better than none BUT.
Also how can I protect the insulation from all the stuff that get pushed in the area?
Thanks for your thoughts and wisdom

Styrafoam slabs. Just use double sticky tape. I havent done it but it seems like it would work.

I nailed a 1/2 x 1 trim board to the top of the storage wall, between the gas struts, that is under the bed and this now supports the bed, then added strips of 2" foam to the underside of the bed frame at the same location. I used 3M spray glue. This fills the gap between the bed and the storage area when the bed is down. I also cut foam to fit around the gas struts to close off as much as possible.

My better half didn't like the idea that bugs could fly in under the bed when the front storage doors are open.

The next step will be to line the whole bed side of the compartment with foam and cover it with thin ply to help with heating and cooling, maybe the underside of the bed in the compartment too.

Filling the gap was the first step, see picture. The next step is to add sheet foam to the bottom of the bed and cover with Luan plywood, also called underlayment. Then insulate the wall under the bed and cut Luan to cover it. Some people will use pegboard which allows items to hang off the wall.
