Is my wdh set right?

Th Owner's Manual for your hitch is attached if you didn't get one. (Hopefully it was supplied from the dealer.) If you don't trust the setup of your hitch, start over. Trust or not, many of us do that anyway.

Take your time and go step-by-step. It's one of those procedures that becomes clear by doing.

It's hard to tell from pictures, but to me your ball looks like it could be a little high.

I think it is your hitch receiver itself that looks messed up. Do you offroad by any chance? Has it been hung up and bent on a rock.

I have the blue ox too, but my shank comes out basically level and the ball is pretty straight. I think your shank looks to be canted upward, and that is causing the ball to tilt forward. There is no tilt adjustment on the BO.

ETA: disregard. Looking at the photo in the manual posted, theirs has the same angle. Maybe my hitch receiver is too level?

That ball as shown is obviously your problem. Have you double checked your instructions? Have you watched any of the many YouTube videos on proper installation? Your measurements look correct but I’ve never seen a ball with that much angle and angled towards the truck versus towards the trailer.
I saw that the same way you do, but that's how it's pictured coming from BlueOx.
... picture from their site.

If that in fact is the correct angle then there is no way to easily lift the hitch straight up off the ball. I for one would not use that set up. My e2 Fastway hitch for me is the perfect setup…. I’ve never had any issues with the hitch not coming off the ball. There are many hitches on the market but Blue Ox isn’t one I would buy.

No, never been off roading, never been hung up on anything. It may be an Irish illusion in the photo, it does look very wanted.

The truck is equipped with factory tow package, only used the hitch with single axle 5x8 utility trailer before we got the Jayco.

This is our first camper, this was what the dealer had. We blindly took their advise as to how good it was.

I'm not found many videos for the Blue Ox Sway Pro, other than what the mfg has put out. I'll keep digging around. Thanks!!

BlueOx has been around for a long time. They have an excellent history and are trusted by many. Your hitch will work fine. I would call BlueOx's customer service department with any questions you have and let them give you some direction.

I believe the general rule of thumb is the initial angle of the ball is 15* towards the rear, and can be adjusted further if the setup dictates, to work properly.

Is there a possibility your trucks hitch is bent. The stinger should be close to level when inserted into the truck.

I did see in their instructions the ball needs to be 2" higher than the coupler for Ram 1500.

Thanks for taking a picture of your hitch. The second one in your post #15 was the reason for my question. I'm sure you'll get it dialed in soon enough. I had to fuss with our hitch going from a 4WD Tundra to a 2WD F150.

I'd start with the procedure that blue ox details and do it yourself.
Dealers don't necessarly know how to adjust, or take the time. It happened to me, so I took it upon myself to research and do my own.
There are many adjustments that MAY be needed, hence get the instructions for your hitch.

Best answer. Workers at the dealerships are often unskilled. My dealer sold me a Curt (highly rated) hitch system when I bought the camper. Within a month, a major component failed and I got my money back.

I went to an Equal-i-zer hitch after that. I installed it myself using the factory manual and online videos. No problems since.

Some might say that this system is overkill pulling with a 3/4 ton Deisel truck and max tow package, but I have been caught out on the road in 40 mph winds and was glad to have it.

Also note that this model of Blue Ox WDH comes in 2 different versions. One is for "overslung" couplers, and one for "underslung" couplers. Your coupler is mounted to the top of the trailer frame. So you need to ensure you have the correct head for that style of coupler.

Can you try flipping the draw bar over? See if it helps w. the ball angle? Not sure if it will because when I look at the Blue Ox sway pro install website the instructions have a pic of the setup with the draw bar in the rise position and the ball is still at an angle....

I've been using the Blue Ox for about 6 years now and it has worked very well. In that time I've found that it comes off the ball quite easy if after pulling the latch up I gently reverse which pushes the ball towards the back of the coupler. Otherwise the trailer has to pull forward slightly while lifting the tongue in order for the ball to clear the front part of the coupler which takes some effort with the jack foot down and weight on it.

Does your RAM have the factory 4-corner air suspension? I had that on my previous truck, a 2014 RAM 1500, and it did change things up a bit for getting the wdh adjusted properly.

No air suspension on my ride, just factory coils & shocks. At 92k miles, it may be time for replacement shocks...
