Is Volvo 3.2 can tow 17z very we'll?

Hi every, I am going to get 2013 x17z, my tow car is 2007 Volvo 3.2 with 200k on it, my all co-workers suggest not doing it, what your comment based on your experience .

It depends a lot more than engine size alone. What model Volvo? Have you read the owners manual, what does it say?

You need to know to following at minimum...
Scaled weight of Volvo
Volvo Cargo Carrying Capacity
Volvo GVWR
Volvo GCVWR
Volvo published Towing Capacity
X17z actual weight or ship weight (not published unloaded weight)

Collect this information and it will become clear if it's a good match. With out this data it would be just a guess -- if I was to guess I would think there is an issue it will be Tongue Weight.

I assume you are speaking of the XC90 3.2....FWD = 3,950 max tow capacity...AWD 5,000 max tow capacity when equipped with factory tow package?

The Volvo is AWD, and was rated as 5000lb, I put 5000lb hitch on the frame also

The guys told me every thing is good on paper, but when you hook the trailer and whole family sit inside, the eng will cry on the hill up, there are lots of 8% hill local.

If "The guys" are the same folks who who sold you the trailer their opinions are worthless...all they care about is selling RVs.

Both the XC70 and XC90 seem to have been offered in the 3.2 AWD configuration...that is why we really need the answers to the questions I previously asked, everything else just create confusion.

Listen to your coworkers. If it screams on hills then it won't be long until you need a different tow vehicle.

He's from Canada, so 200,00 km, not miles...

Anyway, "screaming" up hill is a bit subjective, so it's hard to answer OP's question.... Screaming uphill at 4500RPM while maintaining speed, that should be ok. Screaming uphill, basically red-lining, and unable to maintain speed...then likely inadequate...

I think your biggest limitation is going to be tongue weight. With 2 occupants you have a hitch limit of 500#. You will be very close to that if not over.

Other than that I think this is doable. You just have to be aware, and accepting, of the limitations. I'd say from personal experience that you'll want to watch what you pack and keep your trips relatively short. I've consciously towed close to my limits twice. Both times it was adequate at best. Shame you don't have the V8, I think the extra torque would make a big difference.
