Jay Command Junk

This seems to be "normal" behavior and one of the biggest reasons why this will be my first and last RV with the BMPro system. The internal system should be hardwired or at least on a type of wireless that does not have these issues.
We are grateful that we don't have to deal with BMPro... We have the "old reliable" system.

Actually, it is not bad at all. Even if having issues with the tablet, the phone app handles it all admirably. My wife loves raising and lowering the camper on the truck from the phone. We have an Andersen ultimate hitch if you are wondering. If you want pain, you can manually push buttons inside the wet bay and strain your neck trying to see what is going on in front. I just turned 70, and I love tech, yes I am crazy, and regardless of what you read here, the system works well. The recent issues with the new tablet was fixed once I remembered the clear old data. What truly makes it special though is that I can be just about anywhere and monitor the camper, turn AC's on, lights, turn on generator, you name it as long as camper is powered of course. We leave our Puppies inside if we decide to hit the pool or go to town for a while when camping. I can check on the temps and adjust the AC's if needed. We were at Hilton Head earlier this summer, and by the pool. I checked on the camper and temps were in the high 80's and battery voltage was down to 12V. I went back to check, and we had an over current according to our power dog. Can't put a price on that. The biggest issue with the system seems to be the tablet battery and unintended discharging, but otherwise it works very well. We drove all around Myrtle today and the phone App did its thing just fine. It was a simple fix I had forgotten about! Old age will do that lol

Not a fan of Jay Command

I have a 2022 Eagle 355MBQS and this was my first Rv . Never had one with the switches but from the issues I have had with this I would have loved switches as an option . Since day one the extra sensor they give for tires and fridge never worked well and I had those replaced with other products . Also the tablet always had issues with bedroom slide (Schwintek slide ) where it would not connect or say that something else was controlling when there was nothing controlling it but the tablet. Then after a year the tablet keeps dropping connection and I end up having to just use phone. Just dropped off Rv for some warranty work and they have to replace the unit . Wish you have the option to go back to switches . Not a fan of system.

JayCommand is nothing but trouble

Like most i have the Jay command tablet that controls everything in the 2022 Eagle 317RLOK its not even a year old and the screen no longer functions its no longer turns on period. Thankfully my travel plans were saved by my cell phone, which has the jay command APP on it, otherwise the only thing that works with the tablet are the hard wired buttons below the screen that controls the slide-outs and awnings. Without the app i cannot control AC, Heat or Hot water. The Dealer says they see them coming in brand new rigs NOT WORKING!. They took out the switches and buttons that worked just fine to control all the functions of your coach and replaced it with a android tablet P.O.S. (Piece of ****). It looks like i have to buy replacement tablets when i go off warranty? Anybody think we can file a class action suit to force Jaco to pay for these $99.00 tablets that don't work or LAST? Its not right and i certainly am not the only one who has had these tablets fail within a year or two.

Jaycorookie, I would have to agree. I totally regret purchasing a Jayco trailer with the BMPro "JayCommand" console. The absolute last thing I want is to be away from my home base and dependent on a trailer control system that "just might want to run an update" in the middle of a trip. I have zero confidence in an update 'fixing more than it breaks' about a month after purchasing my trailer, I went on a trip, arrived at my destination, went to setup and the console said "Your software is out of date UPDATING"....what I would like to do is "SETUP, not wait for some update to finish so that I can put down my jacks or extend my slide or turn on the AC", I disconnected everything from the internet and have/will never allow it to connect. I have no desire to UPDATE. First good lightning strike and I'm pulling the controller and all the "APP related crap" out of the trailer, replacing it with toggle switches and an ordinary thermostat. To add to the joy, the lithium battery in the custom 7" tablet went bad. Some of you will say "You can use your phone", yea its on the internet...not going to have it updating when I am on the road. Some of you will say "You can use any android device".....simply not true as they do not allow you to down load a 'specific version of the app compatible with your controller, you HAVE to download the most recent and then do an update." I did not purchase the Jayco to complicate my life.

I will never purchase a trailer with an 'app enabled controller again', way too much hassle.

If you are not into tech...you should have realized this doing your research before purchasing.

Those of us who are willing to deal with the few pitfalls of the tech, embrace it for its benefits. To each his own.

Everyone should have the app on another device and then it will not matter if the tablet has issues. You can still do everything if it is on another device and the tablet fails.

We will figure out the tablet issues and it will only get better.

We're looking at new campers. If they have traditional switches, they jump much higher on my like list. I've only found a few brands that don't have their own version.

X2. as a ripe young and recently turned 70, I love tech. The system works well but it does have its own glitches. I am with Learjet; BMPRO, if you need testing engineers, we are available. I recall our dealer, during our PDI, showing me the hydraulic legs controls in the wet bay. I was simulating trying to operate them with my neck sticking out trying to see the truck and hitch. He gave me this odd look and pointed to the phone APP and said, why would you do that when you have this?

There is a difference between "being into tech" and having tech that is total junk and does not work. Tech that does not work or creates problems for the user is totally useless.

I will never own an RV in which the systems are controlled by some foreign made gadget.

I don't agree that it is total junk and I guess you will not have a lot of things in your RV if you exclude foreign made. No Air-conditioner to start.

Well put, "Buyer beware", I agree the TECH will get better...its my privilege to add stress to my camping adventures helping the TECH GET BETTER, lol.

As a bit-sliced microprocessor engineer with 30 years of experience working electro-mechanical interfaces, you are correct I should have done more research and realized a MARKETING driven SALES department would have put a lithium based device on the wall of a camper that can not survive winter storage and an in-experienced software developer would not only push an app that can not be rolled back to previous version, just in case a person gets an update while they are on the road that brakes functionality...course I love sitting in a campground a few extra days while some engineer figures out what the latest update broke.

As a electronic repair/installation tech I keep telling my boss not to ride the new ride the first year. Damn, I miss relay logic.

Just curious as I don't have a JayCommand, if the controller is hit with a surge or some other complete failure, can everything it controls also be manually controlled? ~CA

Yes, some systems, the hydraulic legs being one, have manual controls in the wet bay. But, as has been mentioned here many times, the phone App can and is routinely used over the wall tablet, hydraulic legs being one.
