I posted my kitchen mod to the Jayco owners Facebook group but figured I should post it over here as well.

When looking at this model (24BH) I was super excited about having a proper outdoor kitchen (Fridge, Sink, and BBQ). After I got the trailer home I started looking closer at the Capital Grille drop-in unit that was installed. It didn't look very capable and after reading reviews of folks with the same unit it turns out its not. Constant flame outs and not getting warm enough to do any real cooking. I love cooking outside when camping so I knew I needed to figure out a way to upgrade it that looked factory installed and was great to cook on. I use a Camp Chef pellet grill and two burner griddle on my patio at home so I started looking to see what they had that might work, its a tight space so options were limited. Luckily Camp Chef has a 14 inch VersaTop grill unit that works with their 14" accessories. I already have the grill box and grate for my patio setup so I figured this would be perfect. I could have a griddle to cook breakfast and a grill box to grill up steaks or burgers for dinners. Looking at the dimensions I knew it was going to be tight but I figured I'd give it a go. I ended up cutting down the metal drawer that the original drop in unit used to create a new slim platform to mount the Versatop to. Even used the front portion to make a little box to store my griddle spatula and gas hose. Makes it look like it came from the factory. Check out the pics on how it turned out. Still need to paint the edges of the metal that I had to cut and maybe clean them up a little bit still, but all in all I think it turned out pretty slick. Even re-used the bottle opener and attached it to the fridge door (double back taped and screwed). Anyway, I hope this helps others who have this outdoor kitchen config. All new builds of the 24BH now come with the Jayport and Blackstone grill.

Mod description:
New Grill Drawer
Used the original drop in metal drawer from the Capital Grille. Cut it down to make a slim drawer and attached a kitchen cabinet pull handle. I mounted the Versatop directly to the new slim drawer and re-attached the drawer slides. I then used the remaining material to make a storage box that sits behind the grille.

Cabinet Modification
The cabinet itself had to be slightly modified. The louvers and gas input on the Versatop are slightly wider then the opening of the cabinet. I had to simply file the opening wider to allow clearance. Finally the drawer tracks had to be mounted a little bit lower in the cabinet to get the vertical clearance needed for the Versatop.

Wow, I like that a lot. I am reworking our outdoor kitchen in our 24RBS, but what I have is much smaller and doesn’t have a refrigerator. Jay.

Looks good. The griddle top, when not in use do you flip it over and store it on top of the burner assembly? Or is it still a little to big to fit in the drawer?

Thanks, unfortunately there isn't enough room to keep the griddle on the top of the burner box, either right side up or upside down. I have a griddle bag that it will be stored in and placed on top of the cabinet where it is seen in the attached pictures. I will probably add a non-slip surface to the top of the cabinet so it doesn't move around during transport.

Great job on the mod. Jayco has changed the 2021 24BH to a Blackstone griddle mounted on a 2 inch receiver mount instead of a slideout tray. Too early to tell on it's usability.
