We've owned the 17c since 2007. I'd thought I share some ideas and pics of what we did to our little guy! :) Some ideas we're borrowed from others...

2" receiver welded into the frame and bumper for BIKE RACK ONLY
Valterra deadbolt kit
crap rack hanging on bathroom wall. Purchased at WallyMart
Dual propane setup. We got tired of guessing how much propane remained
Extra shelf. Molly bolted into the side wall for extra inside storage
Hard wired refrigerator fan. Installed rocker lighted switch. What a difference!
22" LCD on swivel + hardwired permanent dvd player + outside temp monitor + digital refrigerator temp monitor
removable and adjustable rack. A wallymart special!
Shoe compartment. I like this!

have you traveled with bikes on the receiver. I think I remember there being some discussion as to if this was a good idea or not so wondering how it has worked out for you. This was a question we had as well as how to travel with our bikes.

I really liked your shower rod idea, I immediately implemented in on my X18D with a twist.

I put the shower rod just an inch or two below the ceiling along the wall behind the toilet and then using zip ties attached a shower curtain along the back wall on the rod, and then attached it all the way around the shower inside the factory curtain (which stinks by the way).

I let it run one eyelet long on the other end and put a Command hook horizontally that you can clip the shower curtain to. So now the curtain wraps all the way around the corners on both sides.

You could not take a shower in our shower without water shooting out the sides and even through the curtain but now you can go crazy and nothing gets out.

Your bathroom is a different setup than mine so you may not have this same issue, but anyone with a layout similiar to the X18D might want to try it out, it has really helped our bathroom out a lot.

As an added bonus, we purchased a curtain that has mesh pockets on the inside of it that are very handy for holding shampoo bottles and such.

that is a good idea mhd31971 !
we have that problem as often water gets out around and through the curtain

does the factory installed hooks and track that hold the lightweight curtain hold the second curtain ok?

So far it seems fine, it doent seem that we will have any issues with it near term, even with the shower curtain pockets holding some odds and ends. I would like to replace the whole deal at some point but this fix will do the trick for at least this season.

X2 the show box mod is pretty slick. The PO of out 165 has some dual shoe bag/storage mounter to the left of the entrance door as you enter (I dont think it was a fatory thing) but works good. We too are looking for a reciever/bumper mount like that for the bikes and will do something simillar, maybe a bolt on type.

bike hitch

I like the idea of the bike rack. Could you add some pictures of where you welded the hitch. I would like to add to my 23b.

Thanks

MODS bump for those who enjoy their 17c/z! :) anyone else have a cool mod for their 17?

bike rack mod

Nice mods If possiable I also would like to see a few pics on how you welded the hitch to frame ( View from under camper ) I also have a 17c exp . I just picked up recently and had the same idea, but haven't got around to working out the details. Thanks in advance for your time

The hitch held up well. We drove 1800 miles with 2 bikes to s. Arizona. We stopped using it because it absolutely drove us nuts not seeing the bikes in the rear of the trailer. We opted to place them inside and I plan on making a pvc rack to hold the bikes up between the U dinette.
