Hello All,

Have a 2010 Nissan Frontier, V6 w/trailer pkg rated at 650/6500.
I am looking at a Jay Feather Sport 197; GVWR is 4600, dry is about 3500.

Is this too much for my truck to pull on weekend getaways no further than 100 mile trips? Any advice and tips would be appreciated. Would have WDH/Sway/Brake Control.

Someone else on here is pulling same trailer with Honda Ridgeline.

You should be ok with your setup. A WD hitch would probably make your trips more enjoyable. You should also get an auxillary transmission oil cooler.

The towing package includes a transmission cooler for my Nissan...do I need an additional one? Not very smart on this subject.

As long as the tranny cooler was included in the towing package (it usually is) then that should be adequate. For most vehicles the towing package is an option that may not have been included in the truck purchase, especially when the decision to tow comes after one already has a truck. Sounds to me like you're all set.

Would love to see some pics when you take delivery.

Yeah, I bought the truck brand new last December. The cooler is part of the package. I will post some pics once I pick up next week.

*thumbs up* Where will you do your 'maiden voyage' ? :)

Probably Uhwarrie National Forest here in NC. 30 minutes from home and will be a good place to make sure I don't have any major issues with trailer.

We are already planning a 4 day trip to Asheville/Brevard NC area late March/early April. Lots of waterfalls up there and only 2.5 hours away.

I will take pics and post once I take delivery!

Picked up the 197 Jay Feather today. Towed fine and no sway even with 20mph crosswind most of the way. I am thinking of purchasing a cover for trailer. I live in NC and have lots of pine cones and tree SAP. Any input on having/not having one would be appreciated. First camping trip next weekend.

Congrats on the new trailer. To cover or not to cover, that is the question! I have seen this debated many times and many RV`ers are passionate about their opinions either way. I do not cover mainly because the wind blows so hard here where I live and I do not know if the cover would hold up or chafe the camper. But that does not mean I`m right either in not covering. BTW I see you are ARMY, there is a Military roll call thread in the campfire chat forum. -Lee
