I’m new to forums and water heaters but I will try to explain my doubt. I am looking to replace our water heater from a Atwood GC6AA-10E to a Suburban either SAW6DE or SAW6DEL.
How do I know which one I need? I know the difference is a relay on the SAW6DEL, but I don’t know how I can know if there’s a relay on my RV on the current water heater or what to look for.
Any help is appreciated.
For context, I’m sure my husband didn’t winterize and the tank cracked. He took it to a welder but they did a bad job and is still leaking a veeeery slow drop, looks more like condensation than a leak but it’s not.

Here is the answer. If you have to go outside currently to turn your water heater on, SW6DE. If you use an indoor switch to turn on your water heater, then the SW6DEL.
At least that is what I’m finding.

I have a button for gas and one for electric inside the RV. I was inclined to DEL because of its button but wasn’t sure. The other is only and on and off button but not specific to gas/electric.
We were hoping for it to be a DE as we had found one that is significantly cheaper.
Thanks for the help!

If you have easy access to the back of the water heater you could change to the DE as that is where the elec switch would be if not located on the front of the water heater. The romex connection itself is on the back of both.

That is how they were in the early years of gas/elec WH's.

It’s underneath a cabinet

next to the stove with a cabinet door to access it.
