I own a 2019 Jayco Jayflight 29RKS. Recently, I have noticed both outside corners of the slide out are damp after a good rain. It’s not wet closer to the interior of the camper. Wondering if anyone has had the same issue and was able to solve it?

I replaced the tape seal on the roof and resealed everything on the slide out with Quad Max caulking. After the next rain storm it was wet again. I’m considering a topper but who knows if that will fix it.

Anyone had an issue like this and how did you fix it?

Are there any lights or other electrical items on the outside? Sometimes the holes for the wires are not sealed at all, and caulk on the top has cracked.

Thanks for the suggestions. Resealed the windows and no lights on the outside. Wicking from the bottom is an interesting theory. I will look into that. Thanks.

When you say resealed the windows, do you mean you put caulk on the outside or actually took out the windows and resealed them?
Actual window seals are behind the frame.
If you caulked outside only, may be where the issue is.

Regarding the windows, I believe most (maybe all?) have 2 or more "weep" holes for the windows to drain from. They should be checked to make sure that they are open as sometimes they can get plugged with dirt, and crud and other times an RV'r doesn't realize that they need to stay open and they seal over them. Just something to check if you haven't already. ~CA

JoeFriday-JAY: In addition to the windows, check the outer aluminum extrusion/fascia and the underside of the floor for water penetration. Look in the floor corners under the skis.

We have a 2021 29rks. Sometimes, when it rains hard, the water gets past the plastic skis that are under the slideout floor. Currently, I am investigating a way to apply a sealer to the underside of the floor. I have not figured out exactly what conditions cause the water to travel past the skis, but I am leaning towards driving rain and wind. It may also be when the camper is not level (front to back). Or it may be a combination of wind and rain and leveling.

Most recently, the water got past the forward ski at the outer corner of the floor. The night before, we had strong wind and hard rain storms, and the camper was set in a slightly nose-down position. The slideout was open during the storm. When the slideout is open, I routinely check it. On several occasions, I've found water beads across the entire underside of the slide floor. I've been attributing them to humidity and high dew points; we're in Alabama and Florida. This week was the first time that I found the water actually penetrating behind the ski.

I took the necessary steps to rapidly dry it. There does not appear to be any damage. I believe I caught it and dried it quick enough to prevent damage. That said, I am not content to leave the underside of the floor untreated. It needs something better than the blackish gray primer (whatever it is) that's on it from the manufacturer.

I bought a couple of tubes of Permatex 81730 Flowable Silicone to seal the top and a little down the sides on our 5 windows.

I had a Thor and had a water leak in the slide out. Caulked and sealed, caulked and sealed, checked everything, or so I thought. It had an awning with an electric motor. I pulled the plastic insert out of the support arms bolted to the side of the slide. Lo and behold, where the wires went into the slide was the issue. No sealant of any kind on the 1/2” hole for the two tiny conductors.

I did not remove the windows. But I did a pretty good job using caulk around them pressing it into the area. I suppose it’s still possible. Thanks.
