Jayco 806 PUP Fridge Won't Lite on propane

Hi -- Can anyone help? Our fridge has been working since we got our Jayco 806 in 2006. Last year, when boondocking, we were unable to light it off propane. We could see a flame, but it would not stay lit, nor was the flame where it was supposed to be?? It appeared that there could be a leak in the gas tube leading from the pilot location where there was a joint in the gas line. Could it be a leak and how would we fix this? Would we need to bring the unit (the whole pop up) in for repair? After owning for 9 years, this is our first mechanical issue, so not sure how to fix. Any ideas would be helpful.. Thanks.

Make sure there are no dirt dauber nests or spider webs inside the tube. They can foul up the air/gas mixture.

If you have a flame, not "where it's suppose to be", yes I would call your dealer and have them look at it. If you have a small "leak" in your gas line you want it looked at by someone qualified. If it is just a pilot won't stay lite, could be a thermo couple issue, battery issue (need juice for most propane fixtures to operate) or, an issue with something blocking the line as Norty1 suggested.

I'm a DIY kind of guy, and I recently had some trouble with my fridge not cooling. I ended up taking the burner and piping out and apart, and cleaning the burner. When taking the tubing apart, there is actually probably only one or two fittings to be undone, as with most things the order is obvious after you've got it apart.

For gas tubing, you can test for leaks without lighting the burner by using a soap + water mixture sprayed around the fittings. A leak while the gas is on (remember that gas will only flow under specific circumstances, check your owners manual) will bubble the mixture and then you can tighten the connection.

As always, use appropriate safety gear, I'm not a propane specialist, your own risk, etc, etc, blah blah.
