I saw this on "the other forum", a site where you can order Bauer replacement keys for your RV. You must have the key number. Since I lost one I ordered two today, 2.50 each plus shipping, but they do not tell you how much shipping is. You get an invoice with the keys when they arrive but not when you check out. That was a bit different then most e-tailers. They have regular snail mail as well as overnight UPS for emergencies.

A local locksmith was able to copy the keys for me. But he didn't know where/how to get exact replacements. Thanks for the link.

I assume these are the keys for the doors (with the black plastic "base")? I never understood why my main, bathroom, and rear storage doors all have separate keys. I hate carrying around a huge key chain, and 3 keys for a camper just seems ridiculous.

I'm just deciding if I hate it enough to pay a locksmith to key them all the same. Anyone know if this can even be done?

Yep. These are the door keys, not the imfamous 751 storage door keys that everyone has.

Thanks for the link, Crabman. I've had the other keys copied right at Lowes with no problem but I haven't tried the door keys. I suspect those will be special.

I received the keys in the mail today. They are just like the original with the black plastic handle. Two keys were $7.42 with tax and shipping. Took a little over a week to get them.
I tried them, they work, I`m satisfied!

Ranger431, I spoken with a few locksmiths this past summer as I too hate carrying around a mitt full of keys either. I did find out the Bauer door locks are not rekeyable due to the style key core. On my HTT I have found that Fastecindustrial makes my bunk end locks. They have a replacement lock for the door that utilizes the same key as the bunk ends, once the HTT is out of storage I will determine if it is a direct replacement for the Bauer Lock. In my case this should eliminate one key (at least).

Are the key numbers on the original keys, if not where do you get it from?

The numbers are engraved on the original keys. Not sure if they are located anywhere on the lock. So it would be a good idea to write down your key number in your manual. These are the entry door keys, and not the compartment door keys.

I also hate extra keys. I prefer keys without that unnessary extra black plastic that makes them bulkier.

Although we are new to trailer ownership I have camped in other people's travel trailers. I've observed that once on site none of the people I camp with seem to secure their storage doors until leaving.

I made a 6" loop of brass brazing rod and added that to my locker key. The loop is to help keep it from being lost. I considered adding a spare trailer wheel rim like Steve Martin dealt with in the movie The Jerk, but that seemed a bit overkill. Anyway, the key is now hanging inside the trailer for when needed. It's one less key to carry. Time will tell if my idea will work as planned.

Has anyone else hidden a door key on the outside of their trailer? That was one of the first things that I did.

I don't like the magnetic key holders. I used the same technique that I use to hide a vehicle key. I spritz the key with WD-40, wrap it in wax paper and then tape it on to an electrical harness using black vinyl electrical tape. I use a non-plastic bow (handle) copied spare key because it is flatter. Once it is taped onto the harness it all but disappears unless someone really looks closely. Using black friction tape is even more stealthy. Taping it to the trailer hitch frame is another possibilty. FWIW. vic

What I don't like is having two door locks keyed differently. What the heck is the point?
I want to either re-key one lock to match one of the others, or get another lock that is keyed the same as one of the others.

I talked to Vicky @ Bauer Products, Inc today. For $35 plus UPS she is sending me another lock that is keyed the same as one of the other locks already on my Eagle 284BHS.

She can be reached at 616-245-4540.
