Not new to Rving but new to Jayco and here :) Just purchased a 2017 Jay Flight SLX 28BHSW that has been set up since new at our favorite up here north of Huntsville in Ontario. My first question is about the roof...there's no ladder to get on the roof so I probably shouldn't walk on it right? If I put a 16" x 8' strip of 1/2" ply across the roof joists I should be good right ? :) Also considering removing the remaining bunk bed (there was two) and possibly turning it into a storage/walk in closet. Anybody tried this...the outdoor kitchen slide is boxed in under that bunk...is the floor finished under there?

No ladder is not saying you can't walk on it, but the walkboard is a great idea. They quit putting ladders on numerous rigs

Thanks for the replies. I'll be bringing up a truck full of stuff to the RV for the first time tomorrow and looking into that bunk bed and many other things. I may have many more questions :) Of course the wife loves the idea of a walk in closet and has already asked many questions :)

Welcome to the forums.

The SLX series has "Magnum Truss Roof System with seamless DiFlex II material" which Jayco presents as the "strongest in the industry".

You may wish to double check your vin with them to confirm but you probably can, and should, walk your roof to inspect. B

Thanks again for the replies and welcomes. I like the sound of my roof if it's the Magnum one :) That "DiFlex" material is the actual roofing material? I will call Jayco and find out...also I hope to find out if the led lights have been changed out...there was a recall on them I believe. Btw do you have the phone number? I'm assuming it's the same from Canada?

Just following up on my earlier intro :) The roof on my 2017 28BHSW looks and feels solid when I was up there on an 8' strip of ply inspecting...it must be the magnum one :) The remove bunk and make into a walk in closet idea was a silly one...the outdoor kitchen and HW tank take up most of the room. I called a local dealer and gave them my VIN# and apparently the lights were changed out under the recall but it's strange...some lights have a flimsy push button and are daylight bright and the ones with no button are a warmer light? I should call Jayco direct I guess. Anyway, I'm gonna head to the Travel Trailer section and ask about my seized tongue jack :) Other than that I'm very happy with my first Jayco so far...the layout is great with a big shower and the couch right in front of the big TV, also love how quiet the AC and furnace are compared to my 2018 Keystone Cougar.
