Jayco stopped installing Goodyear tires on Jay Feather 21MML

I just purchased a new 2025 Jay Feather 21MML trailer. I questioned the dealer why the trailer has Rainier ST tires instead of Goodyear tires. They didn’t know so they put me in touch with a Jayco sales representative. He informed me Jayco changed to Rainier ST tires because Goodyear tires were becoming too expensive. Boy did that surprise me since Jayco brags on their website that they use Goodyear tires because of safety and reliability. I for one would have rather had the option which tires to be installed on my trailer even if it would have cost more. I guess us RVer’s will be Jayco’s guinea pigs to test out this brand of tires.

Goodyear owns Rainier.

We purchased our 2025 21MML late last year. We got Goodyear tires, but there was a different "surprise omission" from what was advertised. When we pointed that out at PDI, the dealer called CS in our behalf; The answer was "yes, we decided to discontinue that". One more situation of screw the consumer.

For anyone buying a new TT and the unit does not come with the tire that you would desire, its really easy to upgrade and then resell them to recoup some of the cost. I have done this on several used units with decent tires, when I wanted new ones for peace of mind myself.

Even at the higher costs of the Goodyear tires, serious and destructive blow outs and the damage that it causes to the areas around the wheel area can give you more stress and downtime than spending the cost of new. When you are have limited and dedicated time for a long trip and sites booked ahead of time, the additional cost is accelerated .

Plus for the right price when buying new, if you can say that, sometimes you still come out ahead. And if your unit is financed, if you pay outright for the new tires, you ain't paying interest just for having higher priced tires. But none of this rv ownership makes sense anyway. Its just a hole in the "pavement" instead of a hole in the water like boats that you pour money in in many forms anyway.

Buying new requires patience, almost always upgrades and a big tub of tools.

Can I ask what the surprise was?

Sure, it was the privacy curtain at the end of the bed.

We're on the road now. When I get home I'll explain more. ... probably PM you and start a new thread dealing with those issues.

Wow. Deleted out a privacy curtain on an open floor plan camper. That's not good.

... agreeing with "That's not good" @ #9 above. We have an excellent relationship with our sales rep. She has been around a long time and we have purchased several from her. That said, we told her if you don't get us a privacy curtain we are going to leave all the shades up and treat our neighbors to the sights of 2 seniors living 24/7 - that's really not good.

She was able to get us the stock curtain and rail (2024 model) at a reduced price and I installed it myself. (So our neighbors won't have to bail.)

Now they are removing putting in a privacy curtain? I bet a good selling point would be that some of their workers would donate some of their slightly worn farm clothes from the region similar to what my granny would use for quilts, and sew up a quilt pattern curtain with free materials. Now that would be cool and a heck of a talking point.

Of course if your dealer bucks on giving you a privacy curtain, you can always tell them that you will create a sign for the outside saying "Warning, look in the windows at your own risk.. This rv is X-rated, brought to you by Jayco RV on behalf of Such and Such Rv Dealership. Then also hang a pineapple outside, for a bonus to create the conversation about the sign. [can I say that?]

As long as it's not upside down...:roflblack:
It's unlikely we will be traveling with a pineapple. Can we use a cucumber instead?
