Hi-
Our 2019 Jayco 5th wheel is now long out of warranty. We definitely used the warranty service during the first two years.
New roof, new axles, new heater, Frame flex/sidewall crack repaired 3 times,( twice at the factory), cracked and bent I-beam near wheels (fixed at Lippert factory), new mattress, and many small items done at the dealership, and many, many more fixed by us, because it was just too much trouble and time to make more warranty claims. Hundreds of hours on the phone, writing emails, dropping off and picking up, driving to Elkhart, etc.
We had major issues, for sure. We never had a problem getting the dealership or Jayco to honor the warranty, but we had major problems getting scheduled into our dealership for service, like a lot of other Jayco owners.
Not complaining, just telling you the story. I will say that going out of warranty was a little bit of relief, now I just fix it myself, and haven't been to dealership service center for 3 years. I do not miss that clusterfudge.

The reason I bring this up is that I was talking to a friend who has another brand of trailer. He lives in South Florida and there are no dealerships for many miles. I said "What do you do for warranty work, since there are no dealers around. Do they approve mobile techs for warranty work?" His answer shocked me- He has never had a warranty claim. Wow. Reading these forums, I just assumed every rv'er was going through the same stuff I did.
Imagine just buying a trailer, hooking it up and going camping whenever you want to, right from the beginning. Wouldn't that be something?

For a lot of people a fix when you see something or if you are very conscience about all the working parts and maintaining your rig, fixing stuff yourself is just a natural way of taking care of your rig and even knowing when something is not just right. So they go ahead and deal with it themselves without a real thought of thinking in the direction of a warranty issue.

. Short of water pouring in from something overhead that I cannot fix or if a wall corner opens up, going back to a dealer is not something that I consider part of ownership. But its also possible if someone owns an older unit, even one that might have some warranty left, a lot of stuff may have already been addressed.

So there may be some additional context to your friend's particular reply. I also think that we hear a lot more from first time buyers about the numerous issues of dealing with getting stuff fixed stuff when looking outward to some dealer.

I've had the same experience as your friend, X2. I owned a Jayco TT for 7 years, it was never back to a dealer for warranty service or post warranty service. Same goes for my current 8+ year old Coachmen. I've had some minor issues but addressed them myself.

We purchased our current 2019 JayFeather 27RL when it was just under 2 years old. We purchased it from Bish's RV and when I did research on the trailer, it had never been to the dealer or factory for any warranty work.

Fast forward to 2024 and it still hasn't had any serious issues.

Only thing that is somewhat an issue now, is I need to readjust the slide a bit forward. It is slightly out of align and needs to be "pushed" forward about a 1/2 inch.
Once it warms up in this region, I'll be doing that myself.

Not sure when your 2019 5ver was manufactured, but ours was made in October of 2018.
I felt that we lucked out, being manufactured prior to the stupid pandemic.

That was something I looked for when shopping for our trailer though.

Wow!! Lucky for your friend!! Our 2022 Jayco North Point 310 RLTS 5th had many of the same warranty issues. Thankfully No frame issues.
We did buy the extra warranty and we broke even on that. (2) Coleman Max Airs A/C units and the large slide out lost a motor. These (3) covered under extended warranty and done by a mobile tech in a camp site.
Jayco is no different than the top 5 5th wheel manufactures. All the same brand components fail regularly.

Our little rig went back to the dealer several times for warranty work from a faulty city water fill to a new front bunk. Except for the first one, the faulty city water fill, in which some dope just replaced it with a brass plumbing bib - really! - but taught me not to mess around. All others I worked with understood what I needed, did what I wanted, and considered me a treasured customer because I treated them fair, square, upfront, assertively but non-confrontational. Jayco customer service (usually), Terrytown and Camping World, Longmont provided exceptional service. The two-year warranty proved to be a viable reason to buy this Thorjayco trailer.

However, after the warranty expired, it's a relief to do whatever I want with this rig without wondering if it would void the warranty somehow. For me, a major joy in owning this rig is working on it, improving it, and developing everything in and on it just exactly how I want it and it's a perfect little rig now. Over time I developed the idea that an RV manufacturer provides a basic platform that's pretty nice, but the owner has to make it into exactly what they want.

Some people just do not look very hard. My 29RSL Fifth wheel HT Eagle, knock on wood, has been pretty easy on me. But there have been things wrong that you wouldn't except in an automobile. I don't get it. You pay same and maybe more than you would pay for a house or car, and you are less concerned about the quality of the build. That is until it is so bad you cannot use it anymore. Someone needs to hold these manufactures accountable for the junk they are putting out. Maybe that is going on now. There seems to be a big cut in RV sales this year.
