Jayco warranty

My wife and I bought a New 2023 Jayco 355MBQS. We bought it February 2024. This is the 3rd and last Jayco we will ever buy.
When we purchased this unit we were told there is a 12 year warranty on the roof so long as we brought it in every 12 months. 10 months later we get a schedule to bring it in in February 2025. A month later they tell us the roof is no longer under warranty bc we were supposed to bring it in every 6 months. WHAT? Why would the dealership lie to us? I called Jayco and their response was you should have read the owners manual. I guess I should have. I believed everything the dealerships have told me on our last 2 units so why would I think they are lying this time. That dealership will never get my business again either.
Why would Jayco require anyone to bring a unit in every 6 months for the roof, the place has had our unit for over a month and probably keep it for another month. Which means our unit would be useless to us for 2-4 months each year for inspections. How useless is that, unless they want to pay the note for the months they have it. Needless to say Jayco was our first choice to go to in buying a camper but they have lost our business due to their dealership lying and they not having a better warranty.

Not only JAYCO... Right from a Forest River Owner's Manual and most others. And yes, you should have read the one that came with your unit.

Inspection of roof components at least every six months is very important to make sure seams and seals are not cracked or worn. Proper maintenance of seals is necessary to keep moisture from entering and causing severe damage such as rot, mold or mildew. If you encounter dry, cracked or weathered seals, reseal or replace as necessary. Check with your dealer for the type of caulking required for your roof and correct methods of resealing or replacing. A mild household soap solution and a soft brush can be used to clean most roofs.

Does the warranty say you have to "bring it in" or does it just say you have to inspect it every 6 months? I have always inspected mine myself. Mine says seals should be inspected every 90 days which I think is overkill. But it never mentions bringing it back to a dealer which would be a real PITA. Nor does the quote on Grumpys post. I will add that after I brought mine home I immediately inspected the caulking on the roof and added a tube of dicor to suspect areas.

Jayco says, "You or your dealer." I made the assumption that the OP relied on his dealer for all incidental service. He did state this was his 3rd unit and I was surprised he said he never read the owner's manuals. That wording has been there for decades.

The bigger question though is how Jayco would respond to a roof issue if the owner did the inspection as opposed to the dealer. My experience tells me it would be a dog fight....and I would be the chihuahua.

Sorry this.happened. Have you looked at all of the documents for reference to the warrant on the roof? Was this the same dealer where you bought your rig? Any RV will have limited Warranties. I would go over all of the documents along with writing a letter to the Jayce corporate headquarters and sent by certified mail with tracking.

As consumers we all have a responsibility to advocate for ourselves. All RVs will have issues because of sitting without use. Check all over the RV and do all the maintenance!

My FIL (rip) had our favorite rv place inspect his roof. They never mentioned that there was a separated seam on the roof between the front cap and roof. When he called to ask why, they said you paid us to inspect it, not fix it!

I do my own inspections and keep a log of any repairs and who did them.
