Hi: First time Jayco owner first time forum user.

I drained winter antifreeze but found that the top valve on the hot water heater now drips continually. several drips per second.

What did I do wrong in the fall?

Not sure why your leaking and not sure what kind of valve it is but maybe it has some lime build up and is not sealing when it is shut. Take the valve off and maybe you can get a small wire brush through it to clean off the buildup. Oil the inside of the valve and if you can open and shut the valve manually to get the oil on the seal. Replace using some teflon tape or t-paste to make sure it doesnt leak around the threads. Dont overtighten but enough to provide moderate resistance when you tighten it. Hope this helps.

Brian, are you referring to the valve outside with the flip up lever to open it? If so that's your pressure relief valve. Try to flush it a little. Make sure your system is full with pump on or on city water (heater NOT on, don't want to get scalded) and just open and close it a few times. There might just be a little debris in there keeping it from closing all the way. Oh yea, mind your feet, the water's going to come out of there with some force.

Does anyone know what diameter PEX tubing I need to make a repair? Winterization worked well, except after the HW tank bypass.

I'm guessing I must not have drained the tank completely, when I turned the bypass stop cock, I found a leak right at the bottom valve stop cock going into the HW tank.

(I should have measured before I left--the camper is still at the campground, I am back at work.) Any help would be appreciated. --I have a 2010 165.

I could be wrong, but I think it is 1/2". At least my camper is 1/2".

After de-winterizing my hot water heater only leaks when the hot water is not hot. I have tried to tighten the aluminum threaded tube that attached to the tank, however the leak is still there.

Does anyone know what paste to use to seal the threads?

Yikes! I hope it’s not the tank itself. Silicon tape didn’t help?

It's not the tank, just at the threads. It only leaks (very small) when the water supply is connected and the water is cold. My guess is the heat expands the threads, which stops the leak.

Put 3 or 4 wraps of teflon tape on the threads and then use some PTFE paste (comes in a small squeeze tube or bottle with a brush in it). I call that the double tape and dope trick. Loctite PST is the best stuff but pricey and can't be used on thermoplastic pipe fittings...metal only.

Both plastic fittings on mine seeped. Jayco used some kind of thread seal paste that failed to do the job. I removed them, cleaned the threads and wrapped about 10 turns of teflon tape. All is well now.
