Just purchased 2012 1207 camper

We pulled the trigger last week and pick it up next weekend. So excited. We have been tent campers for the past 30+ and looking to getting off the ground. We really took our time wondering if we would really use it much since we only took a couple tent camping trips each year.
It's just the two of us and we both retire this summer. We justified it as a way to travel more without breaking the bank. We kept telling ourselves last summer "wouldn't it be great to head to the mountains when they forecast 100° heat for a week".
Now just trying to keep my head from swimming after reading this and other forums about dry camping, 12v dc, reflectix, pop up gizmos, omega 8 heaters, voltmeters, battery meters, BAL levelers, awning mats, mattress toppers, lugaloos, LEDs, battery tenders, mice, hitch locks, golf cart batteries, solar, generators, trailer brakes...Whew!
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard and congrats on new toy. As far as what you "need", pretty much what you "needed" to go tent camping, except the tent, everything else is decided by your wants for all the "creature comforts". When you get a chance, go camping in your backyard, your back will tell you quickly if a mattress topper is in the near future. If you really want to splurge, take it to your nearest campground and go camping there, but the biggest thing is to enjoy it.

Welcome to the forum Ksolsberg and congrats on your 1207. There is a learning curve with towed campers, we've all been thru it. Don't worry, you'll be a pro in no time. Use Camp Driveway for your first outing and see what you really need and what would be nice to have. Your needs & wants will change as time goes on and you can acquire those things then. Just have fun!!!

Like the previous post. You will figure out what you need as time goes on. There are a lot of Walmarts around to purchase those things as needed.

Basic things are a few tools for fixing things. adjustable wrench, pliers, screw driver etc. Nothing major until needed. I have a $12 VOM from Walmart. If you haven't used a VOM before it is a good learning experience and you can pick up tips as you go along. Other than that, have fun.

Hi. I have a question. I'm in Alberta Canada and just bought a 2011 1207 New. Pertaining to the telescopic uprights, there is lots of space say 2" from the back of the post to the outside tent material (for the front of trailer Hitch end) but hardly any space at all behind the posts at the back of the trailer (the material is right against the post). Is your trailer the same way?

We just sold our 2009 1207 and upraded to a 2012 x23B....We were completely satisfied with the 1207 and I had no intention of upgrading for a while. We loved our 1207 and I'm sure you will too!
