Keyless Door Lock

Hi Fellow Jayco Owners!
Has anyone bought and installed a keyless door lock for their trailer or 5th wheel? I'm looking to get one, compatable with my new 5th wheel Pinnacle, and would love some feedback or advise. Thanks so much!

+1 on RVLock. I have the version 4.0, installed last year and it fit perfect, works great, no issues! Love it!

Only down side was the packaging the lock came in. Not that it was bad, the problem was that it was SO NICE that I hated to throw the empty box into the recycle bin.

I have the RV Lock also. I'm a 69 yr old gal and had no trouble installing it. I like that when the trailer is parked at home I don't have to get the key ring to go down and open it up. Same at camp-I don't have to carry keys around when I'm just out for a walk.

As well as getting one that covers the hole, don't omit checking the bolt end. I had to return one because our Jayco Greyhawk class C has 2 alignment pins that have to engage slots in the lock. That adds strength and avoids it jamming up if you twist the frame with the level equalizer.

Remember it will be battery powered, so if they go dead on you you might be in a bind. yes, it is supposed to warn you when getting low, but you have heard of Murphy lol. We tend to keep a key handy just in case

Yep, I'm a belt and suspenders kind of guy too. I'd keep a key in the (Ford) truck that has a keyboard entry. If that fails at the same time, I will accept that the fates have decided that I deserve it.
I always thought the keyboard entry on a vehicle was ridiculous until I got a truck with the feature. I can't count the number of times I have used it to open the truck in the driveway and campspot so I don't have to go get the keys. I'm half senile at this point and there's always something I've left in the truck.

+2 on RVLock. I change the batteries as part of my spring de-winterizing. I would rather change the batteries too often than have them go dead at the wrong time.

First of was automatic transmissions. Then power windows and locks. GPS navigation. Auto dimming headlights and mirrors. Now I don't touch the steering wheel to back up a trailer. I'm ready for full self driving.

We have one also, but the buttons push too easily. If I walk around with the remote in my pocket I regularly hear it beeping (locking and unlocking).

We (nearly) needed our hidden key recently so I decided to check if I could still find it. With a little fumbling I found the magnetic case BUT with the lid open and the key GONE.

HUH, Who stole my key? Local or while traveling? Do they still have it? Do I need to change the ignition lock?

After a few minutes we calmed down and decided the crummy lid catch must have come loose and the key bounced out on a bad road bump because we concluded that not only had nothing ever been stolen but any conscientious thief would not have gone to the trouble of replacing the magnetic holder.

We're going to get a better one, time to go check yours and update if needed from this Self Opening Amazon One

Unreadable Combo

We also went with the RV Lock. has worked very well with one exception and that is the number pad. Our first combination used a digit twice, hence the number eventually became unreadable. The company sent us a replacement number pad with no questions. Our suggestion is to program a combo that uses a each number only once.

Yes, mine gave no warning, I had to use the key. I keep a key in the pull vehicle. I'll probably hide one in a magnetic box also.

Wow, you need one that locks!
Before I got a truck with a keypad, I got a copy of the key, without the chip. I shaved the key down to half thickness and cut most of the top off which left it small and thin enough to fit unnoticeably in my wallet. It would unlock the door but, without the chip, could not start the truck in case someone got their hands on it.

The new truck has a "secret" stash where a key/fob can be hidden; presumably so you can leave the key in the truck and use the keypad to get in and retrieve the key.

But, what thief worth his salt doesn't already know about the "secret " hiding spot? I still like the keypad for opening the truck in the driveway or campsite when I'm too lazy to go get the key.

RV Lock for us as well. Keep the key for the lock on the key ring for our truck. One tip, when not using the RV turn the switch on the lock to Off to save the batteries, then lock with the key.

Another endorsement for RVLock! I just put one on our new Eagle 5th wheel after having them on our previous travel trailer. Love the new version has a volume control so the chimes can be louder, softer, or no sound at all! Also Support from them has been outstanding!
