Ladder rail on roof??

I have a new jay feather micro 171bh. It has a removable ladder on the back that hooks into a bracket on the roof. The camper also has a long black rail on the roof, near the drivers side (opposite the entry door).

I think this rail is for the ladder, but why would I want to put it on the side like that? Actually seems like it could damage the wall... need to place carpet/towel behind the lower bracket or it would scratch the wall.

Why is this long black rail there?

If we are using imagination, I'm guessing it is there to provide a perch for your trained falcon to come back at the campground.

When you did your PDI I guess you didn’t go over any of that. Call your dealer or sales person

The rail on the roof is listed as the "optional accessory roof rack system". Not for the ladder. That only hooks to the rear wall. I have no idea what goes along with that option.
