Leak found on new camper

Guys, if you follow any other threads of mine, I mentioned this past weekend I have a leak. I am not sure if I found the source, but I have a small wet spot in the ceiling of my bedroom at top of wall. With the vinyl paper it is tough to know if it is STILL wet or just damaged. I'm keeping a close eye on it. I have to do more sealing this weekend.

My camper is a 2022, purchased late October 2023 as NEW. I drove it home and have yet to use it. I know wording with Jayco and their warranty. I know they pretty much have the 'check your seals' language. Is it even worth my time trying to get anything done about it? I have read enough threads to know, it is an exercise in frustration most times, getting something like this covered. I hate wasting time. Is it worth my time to get involved with a request for warranty? It's the start of the season, too. Call the dealer and have it documented?

Water has a way of showing up away from where a leak began. Its frustrating. But I would at least notify your dealer with a bit of frustration in your voice, but firm since you have "planned your first trip during the winter and you are ready to leave on it. " Of course with the factory, its just a matter of getting in line and await for a follow up days or weeks later.

There are several grades of wetness and stains, even leftover stains. One way I like to find out if a stain on ceilings are actively wet or left over from a previous leak is to take some baby powder on a wash cloth and tap it on the spot. If it automatically wipes off, then you know that is leftover. If not the powder will clump up. There is a difference between solid wet and just damp, since you have just started repairing the location that you think your leak came from.

Of course tap the area too with just about any piece of wood, even a yardstick and work around the area to see if you have mushy wood or just wet wood that may possibly dry out . There are different sounds that you will get on solid wood or wet wood and or mushy wood.

It's going to depend on your dealer if Jayco will cover it.
i had a leak in mine also when new, my dealer took a bunch of pictures of the factory dicore where we found the leak was coming from and Jayco covered replacing the ceiling etc…
know in advance this is not a quick job. the way the units are built the tech that did mine said it was a nightmare getting the whole ceiling piece out without doing more damage and putting the new one in was worse. lol

Definitely get it documented with the dealer and JAYCO. You've been pro-active and have the pictures to prove it.

we sealed/taped every roof item on our motorhome when new, vents, sky light, fridge vent and anything that is a potential leak area. see photos. purchased roll of quick roof extreme tape 4"x25ft on Amazon. clean area with rubbing alcohol before applying tape. you have one shot at it so make sure you have tape positioned correctly. very difficult removing tape without possible damage to roof and DONOT stretch it. use small wallpaper roller to press it in place. I also put a bead of decor around the tape edges. 5 yrs now zero water intrusion. good luck
