Hello!
We are new to RV ownership and will be honest- don’t even know what all we don’t know! My husband and I just bought a 93 Eagle series with a 13 foot slide that leaks. We’ve had it inspected and know that structurally it’s sound but the slide needs adjusted. Previous owners did not realize it wasn’t straight and was dragging the seal in and out and damaged a little of the roof corner.
The rig is stationary and will not be moved again. We are not concerned about resale value. So we think there are lots of options to make it water tight but maybe we are crazy. Please give us your feedback! One long term goal is to have an RV carport over the rig and deck but we won’t be able to afford that until probably fall of 2025.
Here are the first two ideas:
Can we seal the slide in extended position? By that…use caulk, expanding foam, {some other product we don’t know about} to affix the slide (after it’s leveled) in its extended position?
To further protect against leaking until we can get the carport, can we attach an angled sheet metal ‘awning’ over the slide to divert all the water? We’d have a couple of legs to support it so there wouldn’t be any additional weight on the slide.
I would love to hear any advice, ideas or suggestions! Thanks!!
