LED Lighting outside under awning

So, just completed today a Mod that has many on this forum interested. I will do the best I can to explain!

I purchased these 3 items:

I decide that I wanted my LED to go the whole length of the trailer and I water them attached against the trailer and Not on the awning tube as I wanted all the wires hidden and also wanted to be able to use the lights when the awning was closed.

I started by getting removing the control panel inside the trailer:


Drilled a hole above the outside light which brought me to the inside right behind the control panel:


I attached the light strip to the gutter on the TT facing down. 1 strip from the hole to the left, 1 strip from the hole to the right and cut the strips in the appropriate spots the the led strips. Attached the y connector with some electrical tape and passed through hole.


I stuck the RF module to the rear of the panel with double stick tape, drilled a hole and passed the señor though to the front of the panel:


I cut the output section of the power pak and wired into the 12V in the panel so the LED's will be powered by battery.

The hole was caulked, as well as the ends and all connections are inside.

Again... I apologize for my pics being sideways. They are not like this on my computer and cannot figure out why most of them upload to the forum this way. I also need to credit my brother Pat (pddjr25), as this was my idea on how I wanted it, but he is the v=brains on how to accomplish it. We both did this mod to our TT's this weekend and both think this is the best mod yet!

Also, when you cut the cord, before the power pac, was there just 2 wires under the sheath or was it coax style? I want to hard wire to the TT 12v but was scared to cut the cord and and end up with a mess.

I also was worried about cutting the cord, but def wanted them wired into 12v and research that I could but a new Power PAC if needed. But all worked out as planned. I am so happy with this Mod!

It looks really fantastic! Since I still haven't installed mine, now you have me thinking. I do have a question though, Jdorant. Do you use only one power supply? I thought I read someplace that one power supply will only power one 16 foot section.

Since he is running this from 12V the 120V adapter power supply is not an issue.

LOL, and there were many more beers after that and before writing this up.

This is a really interesting idea. What wires did you splice into on the inside of control panel? Is there a 12v main line coming in, of diff you hook it to the wires for the outdoor light? If you spliced into the outdoor light does it effect its brightness?

Forgot to ask, do you have any concerns about whether the lights will hold up under the winds they will see at highway speeds?

They are stuck on there pretty good, but I plan on getting some auto emblem tape in the event they begin to peal off. But someone else mentioned somewhere on this forum that their friend had LED light strip for 2 years now and no pealing. I think they will hold up well.
