Light bulbs

We recently purchased a 2017 Jayco Melbourne motorhome. Several light bulbs on the outside of the cabin are missing or not working. Does anyone know where I can purchase replacement bulbs?

Can you post an image of the open light fixture.

Just guessing it is a wedge style 911 bulb. Very common bulb.

I agree - probably a 911 style bulb. That's what is all over our 2016. You can find 'em at Walmart. I switched all of mine over to LED bulbs and bought them off Amazon and eBay.

O'Reilly's. AutoZone. NapA. Pep Boys. Advance. Walmart. Any place that sells auto parts. Here's a hint from experience. Take one of the existing bulbs with you. Show it to the person who says, "Can I help you." They will walk right to it. If said person says look on aisle 15, go to another store.

If you boondock at all, go LED! I installed a board style. 12 years ago as they were the best option

Swapping out to LEDs is the best solution. I did most all on my 2011 years ago and no more burnt out bulbs.
PS: get a few spares, they do go bad infrequently.

FYI, one that likely doesn't matter to most of us. I kept a few incandescent bulbs in mine and replaced ~90% with LEDs. The reason is that when boondocking sometimes I like to listen to AM radio stations at night that are far away and LEDs cause interference where as incandescent bulbs do not. I suspect though that most people don't listen to AM so it likely isn't an issue. ~CA

Interesting, I don't have any interference with my AM radio.

The eBay cheapie LEDs I bought caused a lot of AM buzzing. I switched a few of them to some more expensive ones and the interference stopped. I'm probably 80/20. 80% cheapies.

I don't have any issues with strong and\or local stations, only those that are far away. At night (even in the day but better at night) and when in some very remote areas, I can pickup very distant stations almost an unlimited number of them many hundreds of miles away, until I turn on the led lights.

I don't watch much TV but I do enjoy many talk radio stations so I have checked out quite a few. I will also add that when on shore power the converter limits the number of stations as well.

More information: many portable, indash, and RV radios are OK but not really all that great to start with and may not pickup distant stations ever anyway, older portable radios (some of them) are much more sensitive such as a portable GE Super Radio III which is of a superheterodyne design (which is what I use). (if you search for "Superheterodyne" you can get a lot more details than I could easily provide).

In fact, I highly recommend one of these for those that boondock in remote areas of the US and would like to pickup a variety of am radio stations from all over the US. ~CA

With LEDs, I never buy the cheapest ones. They do fail more often. When they first came out they were to expensive for my pocket book but now they are dirt cheap in comparison.

What size bulbs do you use for the three small outside lights st the top of the camper in the front.

I'll have to look. Ours are all LEDs. We replaced all our bulbs with "modern" when we purchased it in 2016. By the way, bought it brand new; and after going through lots of campers, it was a keeper. We love it. 85,000 miles now, and we have every upgrade we could think of! And we travel all over the US all summer long! Hasn't given us an ounce of trouble!!

I have to confess, I did not replace the running lights, they are original. We never tow at night but they would not save us any battery capacity even if we did replace them.

Where is the light switch for the two lights in the ceiling in the bunk

Yes. On the driver's side above the bunk. One thing we really love about the Melbourne are all the lights. Our last camper was a trailer...a 19 foot 2013 Bullet Premier by Keystone. We loved it, too, and sold it to our son (they still have it), but we really wanted a motorhome. It didn't have nearly the amount of lights that this has. Does yours have the back bedroom window? Ours has all three but some only have the sides. How long have you had it? Ours is a 2017 purchased in May 2016. It's the last camper we'll ever own... we're old, ��, but we'll travel until we become a safety hazard. All our children have their eyes on it!

We recently bought it from a private seller (someone we know). We've rented motorhomes numerous times over the years and finally decided to purchase one. It's in really good condition, just a few items need replacing or fixing. We have a slide out in the back that goes directly out backwards. The windows are on the sides. Ours is also a 2017.
